MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN CERAMICS!
Ok, I’m being cheeky. But I’ve just launched an exciting new service on my website - kiln hire!
I’ve been firing other peoples work off and on very informally for the last few years (and much more formally in my job as Senior Technician at @dundeeceramicsworkshop ) and I’ve finally launched it as a bookable service on my website.
What do you get when you hire my kiln:
🔥 a full kiln - that’s 129L of fired up goodness to play with
🔥 an experienced ceramicist with over 8 years in the ceramic biz loading and firing your work (that’s me btw)
🔥 peace of mind that your work will always be treated with care and respect
I know how difficult it can be to access ceramic equipment like kilns - they’re super expensive and I’ve been incredibly lucky to receive funding in the past to give me access to this equipment. I’m so excited to be able to share this with you, and love being able to be part of other peoples ceramic journey.
Prices and T&C’s are all up on my website now!
(Also, yes that is an old photo of my with the kiln - the summertime shorts and significantly shorter hair are a dead giveaway 😂🌞)
New, new, new! I’ve just uploaded some new Moment Cup designs onto my website! I’ve retired some older designs, but everyone’s favourite Wiggle cup is staying put.
Just a heads up - the prices on these will be going up on these very soon. The price of my materials, studio rent, and electricity have all went up massively over the last couple of years and I’ve absorbed so much of it that I’m at risk of turning into a soggy sponge 🧽
Hello from the studio!
What I should be doing: packing for @teagreenevents at @bowhousefife on Sunday
What I’m actually doing: grasping this good hair moment to take a more up to date headshot while it lasts (still got a bowl cut in most of them 🙃)
Great big life update! 2025 was a year of massive change for me, and you might (not?🤷🏻♀️) have noticed that I silently closed up shop towards the end of the year and fell off the radar a bit. But guys, I’ve been BUSY.
Jan (2+3): sliding into life as a full-time art school technician. Started working at DJCAD as the Ceramics Technician 3 days a week, and kept working as a Casting Technician at GSA the other 2 days.
Feb (4): started ADHD medication, aged 35. It turns out not having emotions that flip flop between “cold” and “f*in boilin” minute by minute is a real game changer.
Mar (6+7): my exhibition at Callendar House closed, and this big doughnut vase (along with some other bits) became part of the museum collection.
Apr + May (8): a blur, a whirlwind, a mixed up jumble of joy and stress as student assessment deadlines and Degree Show approaches. Two jobs = double the blur, but double the joy.
June (10): I took part in my first Potfest! How did I manage to make work for it while working full time across 2 art schools? I’m still not sure, but I did.
July (11): Set fire to a bin with some MFA students and cackled around it for hours. Oh and accepted a job offer at ECA, and started planning a big move.
Aug (12+13): A joyous time at Lughnasadh at Forgan Arts with pals, after a morning spent viewing the house we would end up buying. Left DJCAD.
Sep (15): Started my new job as the Ceramic Technician at ECA! And much more I’m still digesting, a month of big life events.
Oct (17): Moved into our new home, and said goodbye to Dundee after 17 years. Opened my new workshop at ECA. Unceremoniously closed my online shop.
Nov (18): Settled into new patterns, rhythms, and places. Embarked on a mission to Make Test Tiles Fun Again.
Dec (20): Crawled over the finish line to Christmas break at both jobs (ECA + GSA). Celebrated our first Christmas in our new home. Had lots of friends visit and stay. Ate a lot of food and had lots of naps.
A big year, a (mostly) good year. Somehow managed to squeeze in lot of making along the way (1,5,9,14,16+19), but rarely remembered to take photographs of anything once it was finished.
Today was my last day working at DJCAD as their Ceramics Technician 🥲
I got an absolute bumper load of flowers from the best bunch of Masters students and my manager, so I obviously popped them straight into a gigantic Sports Reject mug I spent my lunch breaks making in the workshop last month.
A little repair job I finished up this weekend, getting ready to fly home.
There are 4 of these sweet little ceramic birds in the flock, but they’d sadly lost quite a few wing tips over the years. The missing parts were remodelled and attached, then gold leaf was applied to highlight (rather than hide) the missing pieces.
Shout out to @dundeeradio.club who’s poster from @galleryvolk is a perfect dreamy backdrop ☁️
Lots of new forms on my stall for @potfest.co.uk this weekend, leaning towards more playful sculptural shapes and slow hand-built pots alongside some of the classics. It’s always scary putting new work out there, but I really love how a lot of this new work is looking!
Come see it in person at Scone Palace this weekend - you’ll find me at stand 3 near the entrance (and the ice cream van).
💡Object of the Month: Showcasing objects from across the UNESCO Design Cities Network 💡
We’re happy to share another Object of the Month, this time from here in Dundee! Utilising our window space at Central Library, we display a different design object every month from across the @design_cities Network.
Our June object is:
🍵 Moment Cup (2019)
📍 Dundee, Scotland
This multi-functional ceramic travel cup by local designer @steph.liddle comes complete with a silicon lid for use on the go. Each cup is handmade with a unique painted design. The graphic letters on this cup reference the typography of 2019’s @dnd_designfest , developed by design studio @agencyofnone . The cup’s handle-less design makes it ideal for use at home or even as a plant pot if you ever swear off caffeine!
❤️ Steph Liddle is a ceramics designer and maker based in Dundee. Driven by a love of making, with an eye for colour and pattern, she creates contemporary ceramic homewares and jewellery.

Joy in Art School! A small snippet of some personal faves from this years @djcad_uod and @glasgowschoolart Degree Shows (with an obvious bias towards folks who worked in the Ceramics and Casting workshops that I won’t even try to hide 🤷🏻♀️ but there were many, many more).
I’m in my daft handle era. I’ve not had much time in my studio this year since I’ve been working full-time, but the time I do get to be there has been a nice chance to step back from business as usual and play with new forms. It’s nice.
This big blue wiggly handle amphora will be coming with me to @potfest.co.uk at Scone Palace next month, alongside some other bigger one-off pieces (and a few classics, but not loads tbh).
