PAC LA presents Brandon Tauszik at IPF 2026 Living Harriet Tubman Screening & Conversation with the Filmmakers We’re honored to welcome photographer and filmmaker Brandon Tauszik @be_dizzle to the Inglewood Photo Festival 2026 for a screening and conversation around Living Harriet Tubman, co-directed with Theo Schear. The film follows Nancy Whittle @living_harriet_tubman , a Fresno-based social worker who has spent more than thirty years portraying Harriet Tubman at Civil War reenactments across California. As she nears retirement, the film opens up larger questions around historical memory, Black visibility, performance, and the ongoing struggle against whitewashed versions of American history. A retiring Civil War reenactor stages a provocative final performance amid escalating attempts to obscure the realities of American history. Brandon Tauszik’s work moves across photography, film, and long-term documentary practice, focusing on the structures, contradictions, and subcultures that shape American life. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Le Monde, and the British Journal of Photography. A few moments from our Living Harriet Tubman premiere in Washington, D.C at the Black History Film Festival. It meant a lot to share the film with an audience in person and especially to have Nancy Whittle there with us. We were also thrilled to meet Ernestine Wyatt, 3x great-grandniece of Harriet Tubman, who loved the film—her connection to Harriet Tubman’s legacy made the screening even more meaningful. Huge thanks to the festival for hosting us at the historic Lincoln Theatre and to everyone who came out for the screening and conversation afterward.
