PAC LA presents Brandon Tauszik at IPF 2026 Living Harriet Tubman Screening & Conversation with the Filmmakers We’re honored to welcome photographer and filmmaker Brandon Tauszik @be_dizzle to the Inglewood Photo Festival 2026 for a screening and conversation around Living Harriet Tubman, co-directed with Theo Schear. The film follows Nancy Whittle @living_harriet_tubman , a Fresno-based social worker who has spent more than thirty years portraying Harriet Tubman at Civil War reenactments across California. As she nears retirement, the film opens up larger questions around historical memory, Black visibility, performance, and the ongoing struggle against whitewashed versions of American history. A retiring Civil War reenactor stages a provocative final performance amid escalating attempts to obscure the realities of American history. Brandon Tauszik’s work moves across photography, film, and long-term documentary practice, focusing on the structures, contradictions, and subcultures that shape American life. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Le Monde, and the British Journal of Photography. What does it mean to rehearse a history that never really ended? 🇺🇸 This week, our #AIAArtistFeature is Brandon Tauszik (@be_dizzle ), whose long-term project “Pale Blue Dress” explores Civil War reenactment communities in California. Across fields far removed from the original sites of conflict, Tauszik documents gatherings where participants restage the war through carefully constructed environments, uniforms, and rituals. Weekends unfold as immersive worlds with their own internal logic, where history is not only remembered but actively performed. Rather than disrupting the illusion, Tauszik allows it to hold. His images observe how certain narratives are preserved while others fall away, revealing a visual culture shaped as much by omission as by attention. In these spaces, the war persists as a shared language, one that continues to shape ideas of identity, memory, and belonging. As Tauszik reflects, “Apparently in America, the story outlives the outcome.” “Pale Blue Dress” offers a quiet, unsettling look at how histories are carried forward, not as fixed truths, but as living performances that continue to evolve. 🪖 #ApparentlyInAmerica was founded by curator Francesca Hummler (@fransangle ). 🇺🇸 #AmericanHistory #DocumentaryPhotography #CivilWar

“When the country gets a cold, Vegas gets pneumonia.” I spent a few days on the ground in Las Vegas for @nytimes , documenting a city at an economic breaking point. From the prosperous rooftop of Circa Casino to the empty floors of Circus Circus, here is what City of Sin looks like in 2026. Link in bio for the full report by Reis Thebault. 🎰📸

Opening at PAC LA: Brandon Tauszik — Water & Power On February 28, we’re welcoming photographer and filmmaker Brandon Tauszik @be_dizzle to PAC LA’s space at The REEF for the opening of Water & Power, presented during SHOW LA. The reception is free and open to the public—no fair ticket needed. Tauszik’s photographs turn our attention to the massive, often overlooked infrastructure that makes life in Los Angeles possible. From the Owens River Valley to aging hydroelectric plants still in use today, Water & Power looks at how water was moved, controlled, and transformed into the foundation of a city. Shot in color and echoing the visual language of early industrial photography, the work reveals a tension between ingenuity and extraction, permanence and precarity. What once felt inevitable is shown as the result of extraordinary—and ongoing—human intervention. 📍 PAC LA at The REEF @the_reef_la 🗓 February 28 🎟 Free to attend Join us for the opening and spend time with a project that reframes how we see the systems sustaining Los Angeles.
