The inaugural Indigenous New York Fashion Week is taking place September 11-15, 2025, featuring over 25 Indigenous fashion presentations spotlighting artists and designers from North, Central, South America and beyond.
📍Grace Exhibition Space in Lenapehoking (NYC)
Presented by Relative Arts, an Indigenous-owned community space in NYC’s East Village co-founded by Korina Emmerich (Puyallup) and Liana Shewey (Mvskoke). The space champions contemporary Indigenous fashion, design, and culture, hosting events, exhibitions, and collaborations that support and celebrate Indigenous art.
In 2023, Split Ends Media, Relative Arts, and Scatter collaborated to create a 3D mixed-reality fashion look-book, unveiling an augmented reality experience featuring EMME Studio’s SEEDS collection at NYFW in February 2024. Using Depthkit, Unity, and 8th Wall technologies, this presentation blended sustainable fashion and cutting-edge technology. This year, Split Ends Media, joined by 4th World Media, will be creating 3D renderings of designers’ collections to extend the runway to virtual realities.

In the coming months, social media channels will be flooded with polarizing narratives, the kind of stories that further divide us, subverting productive conversation and collective action. We must not grow despondent. Seek refuge in collaborative work and community resource building. Our power is fueled by connection. Hold one another.

In a special NYFW event, EMME Studio presents SEEDS 🌱🌱🌱
SEEDS was inspired by nature’s propagation systems. As our roots grow, we create a strong foundation to thrive and expand. Built with up-cycled materials, this interactive augmented reality experience and fashion installation opens a conversation about the lifecycle of fashion and our collective power to drive sustainability. What seeds you will plant and grow in the days, weeks, and years to come?

A statement from our Founder:
I am Jewish and I stand with the community of Sheik Jarrah. Peace is not possible until we face and reconcile the devastating impact of the Nakba and ongoing systemic oppression of the Palestinian people. Settler aggression must end. #savesheikhjarrah

Designing Green Future(s): High School Program
Wednesday, March 10, 2021
1:30 - 2:15 pm EST
Beginning May 2020, High School students from around the world came together virtually to deconstruct our global climate crisis and workshop creative solutions. Together, students explore tensions between climate action and industrialization to realize their collective capacity to design more equitable futures. Join us as we share learnings and student designs.
Students discuss the Green New Deal as a working document, open to community input. Each session, students collaborate to create artifacts that embody their visions for the future. Creative works include, story maps, games, and posters. These designs are on interactive display in our Museum For the Future(s).Â
How might we ignite collective imagination to build more just and inclusive future(s)?
This program is supported by Columbia University, School of the Arts, Digital Storytelling Lab + School of Professional Studies
