• IN THE HEART OF THE NORTH A group exhibition: Cameron Robbins, Baylee Griffin, Anne Lord, Tony di Giacomo   Until 2 May 2026 Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsville Qld   This show presents a selection of Robbins’ wind drawings that were created during his recent project Dream Studio, and we are delighted to have two new drawings available from this series.   Dream Studio was an art installation and functioning outdoor studio in civic space that was commissioned by Townsville City Galleries for the 2025 public art festival, Ephemera.   ‘The mechanical instrument drawings are inspired by natural energy. The motion of the pen can be described as “periodic with a fractional degree of freedom”, relating to the orbits of astronomical bodies, stochastic bundles of information, the rotation of prayer wheels, and abstract painting. I have always been inspired by the scientific style of collecting data and creating a body of knowledge from this direct evidence, and this work demonstrates that process.’   —   Cameron Robbins   Images: 1. MARION HARPER 💫 Acts of Incline Opens Feb 26 5:30-7:30pm @gallerysmith_ We’ve had the pleasure of showing Marion’s work in the past and we are excited for her upcoming solo show opening tomorrow night. Marion is a Mornington Peninsula-based artist and ‘Acts of Incline’ is a series of paintings that express the poetics of bodies and their interplay with natural forces, spaces and objects. With visceral affect and strange atmospheres, Marion’s work probes the remarkable plasticity of human bodies as well as their limitations and vulnerabilities. Feb 27-March 21 ✨ @marionrharper

It’s wonderful to return to Zoë Bastin’s research project and contribute a text to the program of ‘The Break’. I worked with Bastin on a beautiful iteration on Bunurong and Boon Wurrung Country in 2023. This new work, choreographed by Bastin, is premiering tonight as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, with a performance each evening until Saturday. ‘The Break’ is a place-specific dance performance that brings the raw power of the ocean into the body. On the shoreline of Williamstown Beach, four dancers embody ways of being and moving in relationship, with an original score by composer Grace Ferguson. Presented by Zoë Bastin Dance in association with the Substation, with support from Hobsons Bay City Council and Melbourne Fringe. Tix available via the Melbourne Fringe website. Writing the catalogue essay for Bridget Hillebrand’s upcoming solo exhibition at Latrobe Regional Gallery has been a revelatory dive Into the Deep. Bridget is a Naarm/Melbourne based artist whose interdisciplinary practice is concerned with time, ecologies, embodiment and place, with a focus on material relations with natural waterways and coastal ecologies. Into the Deep is a submersive multimedia installation that invites the viewer to open to different ways of being in relation to the conditions of our time. The exhibition opens this Friday 11 July at 6pm and continues until 28 September ✨ Curatorial Team: Mollie Hewitt @mollieh , Andrew Nicholls @andrewnichollsartist , Rania Ghandour and Hannah Searing Image 4 courtesy the artist @bridget.hillebrand @latroberegionalgallery

Thank you @willumwarrain for a beautiful gathering for mob and allies yesterday to recognise Reconciliation Week, including an incredible cultural performance by Djarlo Dance Group and Ganga Giri. ✨✨✨ Willum Warrain (home by the sea) is the voice of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on Mornington Peninsula and is the only dedicated Aboriginal gathering place in this municipality. Its role in education, community well being and cultural preservation is highly regarded and valued. The Mornington Peninsula Shire intends to cut crucial funding to Willum Warrain. We invite you to add your name to the petition to oppose these cuts. Please find the link in our bio. Pic 2 🙏 @savewesternport @gangadidj @ourpeninsula #alwayswasalwayswillbe
