For more than two decades, Lisa Roet has explored the powerful and complex relationship between humans and our closest animal relatives through striking contemporary artworks.
In White ape (2005), Roet elevates one ape to almost deity-like status. The monumental sculpture is a portrait of David Greybeard, the chimpanzee at the center of Jane Goodall’s groundbreaking studies into animal emotion and communication in the 1960s.
Did you know you can also find I Am Ape by Lisa Roet in the Design Store? This striking publication surveys Roet’s three-decade career and explores humanity’s connection with the great apes, environmental change, and the deep relationship between humans and animals.
