Chicago’s own Andres Ordonez aka @specter708 returns to Detroit for a 3 hour extended set one week from today… He’s been developing and crafting his signature style of the Chicago house sound over a a span of 25 years. Specter’s interest in house music piqued in the 80’s, when the wunderkind genre blew up in the city of Chicago. Early influences include DJs like Farley Jackmaster Funk, Edward Get Down Crosby, Mickey Oliver, Bobby Qh Bobby,Lee Collins, Lil Louis and the inimitable Ron Hardy. He started DJing at the age of 15 playing house, disco and italo. When Chicago’s loft-party and rave scene started to take off in the mid-90s, he began incorporating the edgier, minimal heat of Detroit techno into his sound. Specters sound brings the real balance between soul, industrial, techno, disco, deep house and everything in between. Its infectious groove can only be described as pure bonafide funk. We cannot wait for him to take the helm of the sound for the late hours at our secret location all nighter Saturday April 25th… 🌌 2nd release tickets available now on @resident_advisor

We are really excited & proud to announce our 4th release! “Specter - Moving In Silence EP” Αndres Ordonez, better known as Specter, has spent over two decades shaping a distinctive take on Chicago house. Beginning his DJ career at just 15, his early exposure to the genre in the 80s laid the foundation for a sound rooted in Chicago’s tradition, yet constantly evolving. During the 90s, as Chicago’s loft parties and underground raves gained momentum, Specter began weaving in the intensity of Detroit Techno adding a more minimal edge to his selections. This dual influence would go on to define his approach. As co-founder of the legendary label Tetrode Music, he has remained a key figure in the underground. Specter’s sound sits at the intersection of soul and machinery, blending soul, deep house, techno, industrial & everything in between delivering an infectious groove that can only be described as pure bonafide funk.

🧨💥🎶 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 started collecting as a kid, thanks in part to his parents who racked up a shed full of soul, hippy rock & oldies records. His fam would throw down together at parties with his uncle & cousin on the decks. After witnessing how songs resonated with people & studying his cousin on the all-ages Legion Halls party circuit, Specter caught the bug quick. He began buying records at the flea near his house & spinning the Traxx & DJ International cuts he heard on Chicago’s airwaves. One day while working as a department store cart attendant in high school, Specter heard house music playing in the electronics section. The source was Damon Lamar, instant friend & future collaborator, who was playing his own tapes. Damon had just moved from Kalamazoo & put Specter onto deeper Detroit sounds, like Black Nation & Fanon Flowers. Damon was also working on a release with Chicago house label, Relief Records, & invited Specter to noodle around on music. “It was pretty cool.” Specter began dabbling in production, scooping a Roland R-8 & plucking a Casio keyboard from the trash. Two years later, Specter & Damon reconnected, this time bonding over UK melodic techno, like The Black Dog & B12. Specter was also tapping into the Chicago loft party & rave scenes, catching classic DJs like Derrick Carter & Mark Farina, while hitting spots like Red Dog & Shelter. He loved the loft party environment & music presentation style, “It was like a jambalaya having a good time!” He changed up his DJing, taking in his influences by infusing newer techno sounds with raw soulful classics. “It made for a really good formula.” PLEASE DO NOT WAIT TO RSVP Space is LIMITED🏡 RSVP is a must📝 [email protected] 💌 Include all Names of Guest 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦<< Location + Party Guides will follow📍**

TOMORROW! December 20th SOLTRIP v2 As the winter solstice turns, we gather for a sonic rite of acid, electro, and psychedelic techno with your DJ guides for the evening: SPECTER (@specter708 ) JS ALVAREZ (@jsalvarez.000 ) MERRICK BROWN (@merrickb77 ) CHACHI GUERRERO (@chachi_guerrero ) RSVP to [email protected] or DM. 10pm - 6am | $10 members, $20 non-members - Specter (Andres Ordonez) has spent over 25 years shaping his signature take on Chicago house. Beginning at age 15, he cut his teeth on house, disco, and italo at basement parties before folding Detroit techno’s raw minimalism into his sound during the ’90s loft and rave era. A respected fixture by the early 2000s, he co-founded Tetrode Music and later connected with Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature, releasing the Pipe Bomb EP, The Gooch, and the acclaimed album Built To Last. Specter’s sound balances soul, techno, disco, and deep house into pure, infectious funk. - JS Alvarez is a shape shifting lizard that has learned human behavior from living in cities such as Chicago and Miami. He succumbs to no one genre and can be found exploring the depths of mutant techno and unruly bass music alike. He is the founding force behind Research & Development, born at Chicago’s Smartbar, and can be found at Podlasie Club, warehouses, and underground spaces across the city and beyond. - Chachi Guerrero, Venezuelan-born and Midwest-rooted, has spent nearly two decades cultivating inclusive dance floor communities. Her multi-genre approach has taken her from Resident Advisor mixes and Boiler Room Chicago to marathon sets at Burning Man. In 2018, she founded Bless This Mess, an underground collective centering LGBTQ+ and femme artists by pairing local talent with international acts, creating vibrant, welcoming spaces for all. - Merrick Brown brings over 30 years behind the decks as one of Chicago’s most respected underground selectors. His genre-spanning sets move through deep house, broken beat, UKG, electro, and techno with psychedelic flair. A lifelong rave devotee with Detroit influences, he’s also the founder of Tektite Recordings and Chalant Music. Every set delivers deep cuts and unexpected connections.
