Been to the British Museum many times but, until today, somehow I’ve never been to the Parthenon Marbles, the most symbolic of the wholesale colonial plunder on which the museum is built.
I do love the BM a lot, but, impressive as all the stolen statuary is, I much prefer the galleries of stuff that was dug up in, erm, Britain.
Undoubtedly, the misappropriated masonry is a big draw but it all feels a bit off.
As does the display of actual dead people.
