Somehow ‘He’s Leaving’ from my album was played on the @bbcradio3 on Thursday eve by @hannahpeelmusic who also said some lovely words about it. ‘He’s Leaving’ was a recording of my dad playing a song that he was writing at the time. I found the recording after he died and added my own cello part to it. It felt really poignant because that’s how I learnt to play music, with him on the piano and me on the cello improvising together. I’m so glad we could play together on the album, it’s the last track and it feels like he’s playing himself out. Very proud of us that we made it onto Radio 3 and I wish I could tell him ♥️

One of the most special evenings of my life - releasing my album into a womby cave ♥️ Community is so important and they absolutely came through for me. What a joy to play @clearwellcaves with some of my favourite people. 10 years ago I did a gig there with my dad, I feel like he was with us on this night too. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou. This Saturday me and my beautiful band launched my album 100ft underground in @clearwellcaves and somehow managed to sell it out! We played there 10 years ago after I had just finished uni and it was so incredibly special to play there again. I honestly have never enjoyed a gig so much, playing with my band was an enormous privilege and hearing all these parts we have woven together for the album was just the best. What a fucking honour to have you all @gilliemusic@smallvince@heledd_owen@_lovisjane in my band and in my life ♥️ Thankyou to my beautiful friends @_lou_moon and @sylvie_grey opened for us. Special Thankyou to @finlayohara who snapped this beautiful photo and for sorting our entire tech situ, and to @merryniona for being on merch and filling the cave with light ✨
It felt like the perfect send off for the album surrounded by friends and family who have been with me on this journey. I could not be luckier ♥️
My debut album ‘Womb Room’ is out today. It is about grief and the way it destabilises your life, the effect it has on your relationships and your insecurities. It is about deep love and deep pain. It is about my need to control everything and how freaked out I get when I can’t control it. It is about moving house a lot and that feeling really hard sometimes but also kind of amazing to experience living in different places with different people. It’s about being in your late 20s/ early 30s and feeling confused about what you should be achieving now and if your priorities should change. Featuring my friends who played their beautiful parts on it, @heledd_owen@smallvince@gilliemusic and who have been hugely important in my life and in my music for 10 years. My partner @_lovisjane who has literally supported me through every single note of making this and who has hugely helped to shape it into something that I am actually proud of, without you it wouldn’t exist. Thankyou to the lovely @josephfutak who mixed it so beautifully and was so great to work with! To my dad who I hope would be proud of this work I have made, your music runs through me and that will never change. I am so glad I recorded you so much before you died so you could be on this album with me. Thank-you to everyone who will listen to this and I hope it moves you. I poured a lot of love into it.
