Learn more about CAST and reserve your spot with the link in the @dadageek bio CAST: Premiere Night is the culminating event of the inaugural CAST season, bringing together the full cohort of international artists selected to create new collaborative works for this special evening. Following a global call for submissions, the CAST panel chose six composers and six visual artists whose practices represent some of the most compelling directions in contemporary sound and visual media. Each composer was paired with a visual artist to form a collaborative team, and these pairs have spent months developing original works that receive their world premieres at this event. Premiere Night features the debut of six new collaborative works by the following artist teams: Stylianos Dimou @dimou_stl & Britt Moseley @planet_moseley (with SoundMap Ensemble) Haeun Park & Krista Faist @krista.faist (with SoundMap Ensemble) Rafael Godoi @rafaelfsgodoi & David Sydiongco @panoptikon.party (with SoundMap Ensemble) Carolina Carrizo @yscarol & Jonathan Monaghan @jonmonaghan (with Line Upon Line) Mathis Saunier @mathis.saunier_ & Shirley Steele (with Line Upon Line) Shahrzad Talebi @shahrzad.talebi_ & Eric Theise @erictheise (with Line Upon Line) Together, these collaborations highlight the artistic vision at the heart of CAST. Premiere Night invites audiences into an evening of immersive performance, new artistic possibilities, and the future of contemporary audiovisual work. Through performances, workshops, and mentorship, CAST aims to cultivate a vibrant community where contemporary art and technology converge, offering artists space to explore, experiment, and share their work with engaged audiences. Soundmap Ensemble Traversing boundaries of musical practices, SoundMap Ensemble presents a “carte blanche” of Brazilian composer Januibe Tejera, where the ensemble explores the terrain of music and technology. Imagined for Future Traditions, the program includes works exploring musical theater, instrumental music, video, electronics sound, deep listening. CAST (Contemporary Art & Sound Technologies) is a new platform dedicated to supporting experimental creators working at the intersection of sound, music, and visual media. Our mission is to foster bold, interdisciplinary work by connecting emerging and established artists with innovative institutions, professional resources, and collaborative opportunities. CAST is now accepting project proposals from sound/music and video artists for our inaugural 2026 season. Submissions are open until September 5th. We are seeking innovative, experimental artists to develop new works over a week of workshops and rehearsals in Austin from March 23rd to March 27th, and a unique performance opportunity on Saturday, March 28th at dadaLab. Up to 8 composers and 8 visual artists will be selected and have the opportunity to work with local Austin Institutions – @dadalab.io , @soundmap_ensemble , and Line Upon Line Percussion @lulpercussion Selected participants will be paired to create a team with one composer and one visual artist to develop a collaborative work. Alternatively, one artist could apply to do both – visual and audio content.
