Out now! from the very good people @goodgilbert.adl It’s All Good, Gilbert When you enter Good Gilbert it’s hard to miss the bottles that stand pride of place on the top of the bar. Particularly eye-catching are the numerous champagne magnums – trophies of a time well had; celebrations marked with the saberage of an amazing bubbly drop. Good Gilbert is ALL about heart., And good wine. And good food. And good times. Open up this book and share in all these things and more – including GG’s relationships with producers, suppliers and other Adelaide venues – with the people that make it, well, far better than just good. They’re the things that make it a hospitality great. 🍾 ✋ Please note: orders are sent to print on purchase, we can't guarantee delivery in time for christmas due to it being a busy period.

Introducing our new comedy series: SPLIT BILL! Hosted (Curated) by @laurenybonner 🔗 link in bio A ‘split bill’ is when two comedians pair up to do one half of a show each. Sometimes the comedians are friends, or sometimes they’re shoved together out of convenience, but always the hope is that the two halves compliment and resonate with one another to appeal to a common audience. It’s a good deal for everyone: you get to be introduced to your new favourite comedian, and a comedian gets to make a new fan. Then of course most importantly, and most unusually, the comedians get to make a bit of money. Book 1: @prueblakecomedy & @alexandrahudsoncomedy Book 2: @laurenybonner & @lewgarnham Book 3: @the_wok_boy (Kevin Duo Jin) & @_harryjun_ THE FIRST PRINT RUN IS 2ND DECEMBER 2022, BOOKS WILL TAKE 1-5 BUSINESS DAYS TO BE PRINTED AND THEN SHIPPED. FIRST 100 BUYERS ARE CREDITED WITH A THANK YOU IN EACH BOOK.

HUGE NEWS! We are delighted to announce the upcoming publication of New Voices on Food volume 2 from @diversityinfoodmedia.au in November. Edited once again by the inimitable @leetranlam and following on from the success of 2020’s initial volume, this second anthology is a little book on food and identity that, we believe, simply cannot be missed. Featuring a fresh selection of new and emerging voices from a wide variety of under-represented backgrounds and tied around a theme of Past, Present and Future, it promises to open your mind to new perspectives, foods and ways of thinking. A reminder that food can be a powerful time-travel machine – a symbol of 65,000 years of knowledge, as well as a representation of a possible, hopeful future – the contributors’ stories will send you through through different timelines, perspectives and offer one-of-a-kind ways to be moved by food. Because difference is everything and new voices should always, ALWAYS be heard! Printing and shipping in November and available for pre-order from our website TODAY.

Introducing Ourkind… and Eat This! ✨✨📕💥 Ourkind is an exciting new collection of some of our favourite independent publications from Australia and further afield. And kicking off this collection is Eat This!, a killer new bi-annual food zine from Melbourne-based food writer and author Jade O’Donahoo. In Jade’s words, ‘Eat THIS! is intended to make cooking and food culture easy, accessible and appealing to all! Each issue has a cultural theme and features a collection of recipes, as well as family stories and traditions of that culture. All recipes are meat-free and have gluten-free options, as this reflects the way I cook and eat at home. The purpose of the zine is not only to highlight the traditional vegetarian meals from all cultures, but also to unite people through parallels between different cultures.’ The first issue is Italian, and feels particularly special as it reflects Jade’s own cultural heritage. More than 35 recipes, many collected from her own nonna, are presented across four chapters (Everyday Eating, Sundays and Celebrations, Sweets, and Cheers!), with handy tips, food traditions and family stories woven throughout. Jade hopes the zine will inspire readers to look at their own family’s customs, and keep these precious traditions alive. The zine is available for $15 from our website now (Australia only) and for those of you interested in glorious, authentic homecooked Italian food keep an eye out here as we will be posting the details of a delicious Tomato Crostata shortly! Further titles will be added to Ourkind in the next few weeks, so be sure also to sign up to our newsletter and check in on our site, too, as we look to build out this exciting new online store offering. #Somekind #Ourkind #publishforgood #pastaalwayswins

New year, new look! 📚 ✨ ✨ 2 months into 2022 and it’s been quite the start to the year! Venues and states are opening up again, hospitality seems to be navigating the staffing shortages and getting back into the swing of things and life is (perhaps?) beginning to look that little less extraordinary… We here at Somekind have been busy behind the scenes too, working on a bit of a refresh of our branding and website. The new look – we hope – better showcases the vibrancy of our books and series and reinforces our belief in the importance of community and the power of collective storytelling. With Ourkind, our site now also offers up a home for a new collection of exciting independent publications that we believe everyone should make room for, while our own titles have been updated and are now much clearer to navigate. And best news of all? Our newly refreshed site returns our groundbreaking Takeaway series for sale online in Australia. And because we believe our books are always better together, we’re offering up our 3 titles for $50 again, so you can stack your shelves with all the goodness we have to offer. Hello 2022! May it bring your bookshelf many little books and much joy. 📕 📖 💥 #somekindpress #takeaway #tellingstoriestogether

As of midnight tonight that's a wrap for our online sale in 2021! A huge, huge, HUGE thanks to all those of you who picked up a Takeaway book in the past year – along with learning more about what makes your favourite places (and the people behind them) tick, you’ve helped deliver something to their bottom line during a mega shitshow of a time. That’s amazing. When we started this series last year we never thought the response to these little books would have been what it has... but it’s been the most incredible ride! Over 20k copies sold, series in the US and Japan, 500K+ returned to small independent businesses and a truckload of happiness spread. We’ve learnt tons along the way too, not least the fact that you guys have shown that a different way of publishing is possible. That cookbooks don’t all need to be giant, coffee-table loving monsters and that our conversations about food don’t always have to be dripping in high-sheen, glossy perfection (or, indeed, colour). Most importantly, though, you’ve shown that there’s a space out there between two covers – among all the celebrity chefs, influencers and the rest – for the REAL food heroes of this world, the ones that lift us up and take us out of ourselves on a daily basis through their exceptional food and hospitality. So thank YOU. The books are still available in those venues which, in some form or another, are all now open again. And we’ve got PLENTY of exciting things to come in 2022, including many more of these little books. But for now, it’s time to go eat.
