Looking at these photos is a wonderful reminder that even while working very hard to make a truly beautiful movie, Chels was also being very crack up behind the scenes 1) Modelling her new purpose bought iPad holder, an essential piece of directors kit. As you will see in future photos, sadly the iPad holder was soon deemed inessential and never made it to set 2) That’s her mum Gaylene on shoot day one saying “Good luck making your movie” or something possibly even more inspiring 3) Chelsie and @chegone are at the picture house, imagining what the movie should look like “And do you want the characters in focus or out of focus?” etc 4) Looks like some actors just nailed their take! 5) Guy and Joe come to set to boost the vibe! We mostly boosted the vibe by following instructions when asked to move “out of the way” 6) I have never seen anyone listen with as much intensity as Drew in this photo 7) “I don’t like Shakespeare… I love him!” 8) Don’t be distracted by them holding the phone, check out the lip balm holster 9) I am (and remain) so proud @caterpillar__film is out in cinemas all around NZ today! THIS IS THE BEST WEEKEND TO SEE THE MOVIE so it stays in cinemas for even longer and therefore other people (who cannot see the movie this weekend due to prior commitments) can also see the movie at a later date!

I would like to take this opportunity to profile the two best mums! In slide one we’ve got Chelsie and in slide two we’ve got Charlotte. I just can’t get enough of that wonderful CH sound Obviously today I have seen many of you designating people who are strangers to me as the “best” mum - and while I disagree - I also understand how you may have arrived at that conclusion Proud to be a son to a mum and a dad alongside a mum! 2018 - Germantown, NY - Proud owner of a ball in a cup. Has an idea for a feature film 2026 - Mt Roskill, Auckland - Has worked harder to realise and make her film than I knew was possible. Written and rewritten it more times than I can count (I selfishly remember complaining that the script and the characters had moved in with us during lockdown and it’s a testament to her grace that has not been brought up since). Surrounded herself with talented people, got us down to Wellington to film it, edited it while growing our baby. Eight years of graft, single minded vision and dedication to making something so beautiful comes to a head now! THIS IS A STUNNING MOVIE THIS MOVIE WILL MAKE YOU AND YOUR MUM AND YOUR GRANDMA AND YOUR DAUGHTER LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH LIKE YOU’RE A FUCKING PILLOW AT AN AIR B N B @caterpillar__film premieres this week at the Embassy in Wellington on May 6 and the Hollywood in Auckland on May 7 (tickets available at the link in my bio). After that it opens nationwide on Thursday May 14 and for the love of all that is good, get down the cinema and check it out! I am blown away by Chelsie everyday and now for the price of a movie ticket, you can be too.
