The most beautiful country ❤️🇻🇳
I don’t think I can put into words how calming, grounding and special the past few days have been. Thank you to Trai, my driver who guided us always with a smile and kindness; who shared with us both stories and struggles of Vietnamese ethnic groups and his personal family and life; who tried to teach me Vietnamese in 3 days, who kept me safe on the motorbike and made me feel like I was a true Viet girl.
Photos don’t do the beauty of the rainforests and the villages justice. I couldn’t say how many times I cried on the back of the bike. Ông, my grandpa was born in Lạng Sơng, in the jungles of north Vietnam. Maybe in another life I lived in these beautiful mountains.

Despite being only the second time coming to Vietnam, I feel such a strong feeling of love towards this beautiful country and the people. Both my Ông and Bà passed away last year so this trip feels even more special, small moments remind me of them.
I’m in love with the food, the heat, the warmth of the people, the motorbike Grabs, the fresh mango smoothies, pho for breakfast, aunties and uncles gossiping and me wishing I could speak Viet…
I’ve shot my next capsule collection here with the most fab team (can’t wait to share it soon) and I’ve met some amazing people so far. I got my first áo dài from the sweetest ladies who hand made and hand embroidered them all in store. I’m lucky and grateful that I can experience this with Jamie and show him part of my heritage and culture.

At the core of the brand is the spirit and resilience of the stories passed down through generations of my family. Shān Shuǐ is the continuation of a personal exploration into my Chinese-Vietnamese heritage. Born and raised in Australia and France and based in London, the brand is inspired by the duality of my cultures whilst creating contemporary, luxury pieces.

Introducing the Shān Shuǐ collection
Shān Shuǐ - 山水 - Mountain and Water
“Our legendary ancestors, the Hundred Viet, were born from the union of a Dragon King and a Fairy or Mountain’s Daughter, Âu Cơ, who swallowed a handful of fragrant soil and lost the power to return to Heaven. Her tears formed Viêt Nam’s myriad rivers and the recurring floods are the land’s way of remembering her.”

Inspired by the folklore stories from China and Vietnam which delve into the intricacies of how both countries were formed, the capsule collection presents a duplexity between solid and softness. Reflecting this, the Ha Long Gown plays with asymmetric draping to create a sharp yet soft silhouette.
