Join us for another two-day Risograph worksop in partnership with @risolab ! Participants will be introduced to the Risograph printing process and how its vivid colors and high speed printing capabilities can be maximized by artists. Students will be given a thorough introduction to the ideal Risograph printing workflow and exposed to a range of prints, books, and printed matter that pushes the boundaries of what this medium is capable of. Day one will focus on the basics of Risograph printing, with collaborative and individual projects produced with analog techniques. The Society of Illustrators is excited to announce the 2026 Hall of Fame honorees Joe Ciardiello (@joeciardiello ), Maira Kalman (@mairakalman ), Miguel Covarrubias, Zelda “Jackie” Ormes, and John Tenniel! Since 1958, the Society of Illustrators has elected to its Hall of Fame artists recognized for their distinguished achievement in the art of illustration. Artists are chosen based on their body of work and the impact it has made on the field of illustration. These artists join a list of the greatest names in illustration! Join us this weekend for a workshop at the RisoLAB taught by faculty member Wren McDonald @wrenmcdonald offered in collaboration with the Society of Illustrators! Sign up via link in bio! In this introductory workshop participants will learn the basics of spot color Risograph printing and how to layer limited colors for vibrant results. The first session will be spent learning primary functions of the Risograph, creating analog prints, and preparing digital files for print. In the second session, students will have the opportunity to print pre-prepared work (digital or analog) using the learned techniques. Participants must come with a finished design they would like to print. Everyone will take home 20 copies of their pre-prepared print (1-4 colors, letter or tabloid size), 1 print from everyone else in attendance, and a variety of other RISO-printed ephemera. Class Days: Sat. May 16th – Sun. May 17th Class hours: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Total instructional hours: 10 $350

#SI125 For 125 years, the Society of Illustrators has celebrated the evolving role of illustration as both a profession and an art form. Drawn from the Museum of Illustration’s Permanent Collection and expanded through a selection of contemporary artists from decades of our competitions, the exhibition 125 Years of Illustration traces a living lineage, one that moves fluidly between past and present. The works on view reflect a broad spectrum of illustration’s history: from early 20th-century masters whose images defined visual culture in magazines and books, to contemporary artists who continue to reshape the field through new forms, voices, and technologies. Though separated by time, these works share a common purpose, to communicate, to interpret, and to imagine. This exhibition will be on view from Saturday, May 16 until Saturday, August 8, 2026.
