“Derived from the intimate, in-the-round architecture of the Pierre Boulez Saal, Ackhurst’s drawing considers the concert hall as an instrument in its own right. Devoid of audience or performers, the work foregrounds the spatial conditions through which sound, proximity, and shared attention are shaped before the event of music itself.”

Now on view as part of the group show Edge of Refusal, until 25 April 2026 at @softcommodity gallery.
OPENING TOMORROW
Edge of Refusal @softcommodity
Featuring work by William S. Burroughs
📍 Soft Commodity (Museum Department), London
🗓️ 6th March – 25th April, 2026
Wednesday – Saturday
14.00 – 18.00
By appointment only
Edge of Refusal inaugurates Museum Department, a new ongoing programme shaped by the operational conditions of Soft Commodity’s headquarters. The group exhibition resists fixed thematic framing, remaining grounded in its material and spatial context.
Included in the exhibition, Burroughs’s collage Blue Eyed Lemur (1992) sustains his distinctive language of disruption and discontinuity. Photographic fragments and gestural marks sit in unresolved tension, with the cut functioning as interruption rather than resolution — a method central to his practice.

_MUSIC: SOF - Lub
Lub, the debut album by Portuguese artist SOF, based in Berlin, explores themes of solitude and self-preservation through destruction. Moving away from conventional musical structures, SOF creates a dissonant anarchitecture that, while still paying homage to metal and noise, evokes a unique vocabulary of chaos and rupture.
The album celebrates the sovereign individual striving for autonomy, challenging the norms that have led society to its current numbness. With tracks that range from mid to slow tempo, it tackles existential anxiety, cultural conditioning, and political entrapment, using distorted guitars, intense drums, and atmospheric, dark synths. Lub is a sonic reflection on the artist’s inner struggle and relentless thirst.
The album is released as a collaboration between the art gallery Soft Commodity and Perf.
