Saal 38 × 45 cm Pencil on paper 2026 “Derived from the intimate, in-the-round architecture of the Pierre Boulez Saal, Ackhurst’s drawing considers the concert hall as an instrument in its own right. Devoid of audience or performers, the work foregrounds the spatial conditions through which sound, proximity, and shared attention are shaped before the event of music itself.” - Soft Commodity Now on view as part of the group show Edge of Refusal, until 25 April 2026 at @softcommodity gallery.

HIDE, an exhibition booklet by Conor Ackhurst available now at Limited edition artist booklet published on the occasion of the exhibition in association with Regentag. Friday, July 18, 2025 - Saturday, July 26, 2025 - Stroud Valleys Artspace - 4 John Street, Stroud, United Kingdom (map) “A tree is a singular object. A forest is an abstraction, we experience it as an environment, an atmosphere, a system. A forest is a concept that emerges from multiplicity. It exists not just as a sum of its parts, but as something more—a space shaped by density, depth, concealment, and movement. HIDE is a continuation of Conor Ackhurst’s ongoing investigation into simulation, constructed environments, and the uneasy friction between digital and physical realities. In this work, camouflage is not simply a tool of concealment but a political and aesthetic force—one that dissolves, distorts, and reconfigures our relationship to nature, perception and power.”

Over the past four months, artists Jessica Luostarinen and Conor Ackhurst have shared a residency at @studioblockm74 in Mexico City. The resulting exhibition is not a singularly unified body of work, but rather a presentation of two distinct practices that have developed in parallel, shaped by proximity, conversation, and a shared sensitivity to the poetics of material, memory, and transformation.
