LA DÉRIVE: A SURREALIST INTERVIEW WITH NiCKY Drawing inspiration from the games, writings, and spontaneous methods developed by the Surrealist movement, @rosemarievalentinaa initiated a series of questions in their spirit. Conceived as an alternative interview format, this ongoing series aims to reveal lesser-known dimensions of contemporary creative figures while building a new archive shaped by intuition, association, and conversation. In this second chapter, she speaks with London-based queer performer and musician @_nickymusic whose practice moves across avant-garde music, performance, nightlife, and experimental forms of storytelling. Encountered during I’ve Seen That Face Before at Café OTO, the conversation unfolds through fragments, symbols, memories, and imagined landscapes. Find more of these surrealist interviews in our first printed issue releasing May 20th. VISUALS by @hectoreau —

LA DÉRIVE : ON SITUATIONISM To mark its one year anniversary, LA DÉRIVE launches its first printed publication : a zine exploring contemporary echoes of Situationism through conversations, essays, visual narratives and creative trajectories. Inspired by the Situationist idea of the dérive (moving through urban space guided by encounter and intuition) this first issue approaches culture as something lived, navigated and continuously reshaped through movement. On May 20th, join us at Cahier Central in Paris for an evening bringing together contributors, readers, creatives and collaborators around the launch of the publication. captured by @margue.erite - CULTURE IN MOTION with @cahiercentral and many more

LA DÉRIVE: SHOW REVIEW I’ve Seen That Face Before, a new quarterly music and performance night curated by @_nickymusic and writer–filmmaker @sf_burns , unfolded on 2 April 2026 at @cafeotodalston as a space of encounter at the porous edges of avant-garde music, visual art and performance. Taking its title from the Grace Jones classic, the evening draws on the organisers’ shared experiences of traversing nightlife hinterlands: bars, dancefloors, and transitional zones where experimentation becomes a collective language. Conceived as the first chapter of a quarterly residency series, the programme gathered an eclectic constellation of queer artists working across sound, image and presence. Experienced and reviewed by Rose Marie Valentina as correspondent for LA DÉRIVE, the night emerges through personal notes taken in situ: an organic mapping of atmospheres, gestures and exchanges. More than a fixed programme, I’ve Seen That Face Before operates as a recurring point of orientation within London’s evolving performance ecology. As the next edition is set to take place in July, stay tuned for an in depth interview of co-curator NiCKY with @rosemarievalentinaa - CULTURE IN MOTION with @rosemarievalentinaa @_nickymusic and @sf_burns pictures by @henrymills___

LA DÉRIVE : IN CONVERSATION WITH STUDIO VON SCHOENEBECK Founded by designer Johannes von Schoenebeck and art historian / filmmaker Magdalena Shterianova, Studio Von Schoenebeck develops a practice situated between collectible design, functional art, and narrative construction. Encountered during Paris Design Week through their Tetris Candelabras, the studio talked about their signature practice: designing objects not as isolated forms, but as structures emerging from situations: gatherings, rituals, and shared cultural memory. Across the conversation, fire emerges as both material and structure: a force that shapes form while anchoring collective experience. Community, in turn, operates not as context but as a component of the work itself, while literature, philosophy, and cultural history function as internal frameworks guiding each piece. Rather than illustrating stories, Studio Von Schoenebeck constructs objects designed to hold them. Full conversation now via link in bio. - NAVIGATING VISIONARIES with @vonschoenebeck

LA DÉRIVE: ON SHOW
IL RATTO DI EUROPA curated by @vittoria.disavoia and @sarahsadiadaoui
on view until April 23 @bkv_fine_art Taking Luca Giordano’s Il Ratto di Europa as its point of departure, the exhibition unfolds as a cross-temporal dialogue between an Old Master painting and eight contemporary artists invited to respond to the myth’s enduring political and symbolic charge. Revisiting Europa not simply as a figure of origin but as a site of tension, the presentation reflects on displacement, migration, and the construction of Europe itself. Through works by artists including @cluvie @monia.benhamouda.studio and @skittl.es , the myth reappears as a living structure: one shaped as much by movement across the Mediterranean as by narratives of conquest, identity, and representation. Installed within an intimate historic interior traditionally devoted to Old Master painting, the exhibition deliberately moves beyond the neutrality of the white cube, staging a close encounter between inherited images and contemporary voices. In this proximity, Giordano’s painting shifts from monument to question: what does Europe mean today, and who is allowed to speak within its mythology ? LA DÉRIVE: CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT
ON ANAÏS SAVVY & SOUNDS YOU Founded by @anaisavy following a formative encounter with London’s rock scene, @soundsyou_ is an independent platform dedicated to amplifying underground voices and alternative musical narratives. Developed as both a space of discovery and exchange, the project reflects a collective approach to listening and transmission. Its visual identity is shaped through Savy’s own drawings, produced through collage and video animation as an extension of the platform’s editorial language. As Savy describes it:
“Sounds You was born from the desire to make underground projects resonate more loudly, to turn up the volume on voices we hear too little.” - NAVIGATING VISIONARIES with @anaisavy @soundsyou_

LA DÉRIVE: ON SHOW At Galerie REGARD in Paris, ÉTUDES POUR OBJETS IMMOBILES revisits the language of still life through a constellation of quiet paintings by artists including @faustinepecarrere , @sophiapega , @tal1u1ah and many more. Across suspended objects, interior fragments, and solitary figures, familiar scenes appear gently displaced, poised between narration and stillness, presence and suggestion. Conceived as a spatial composition, the exhibition unfolds alongside a discreet sound environment by @johnferrere with Alain Planès, inspired by Erik Satie’s notion of furniture music: a sonic atmosphere that inhabits space rather than commands attention. Image and sound together produce a slowed perceptual field where everyday forms take on a quiet intensity. Presented for the gallery’s fifteenth anniversary, the project also marks the transition from Galerie John Ferrère to REGARD, a curatorial platform dedicated to dialogues between visual art, sound, architecture, and design. On view until May 2. - CULTURE IN MOTION with @regard__paris

LA DÉRIVE: NAN GOLDIN AND RADICAL INTIMACY In No Photos, Just Aura: Nan Goldin in the Age of Post-Internet Intimacy, writer Arina Baburskova reflects on what it means to encounter Nan Goldin’s Ballad of Sexual Dependency today, at a moment when its once-radical aesthetics of exposure and vulnerability have become the baseline of contemporary internet visual culture. Faced with a no-photography policy at Gagosian Davies Street, the act of looking briefly shifts. To see without capturing, to experience intimacy without circulation, unsettles our habits of recognition and raises a quiet question: does the image recover something like an aura or simply stage the appearance of one? LA DÉRIVE: ON SHOW At Galerie Nicolas Robert, visual artist Arta Ajeti presents DREAMED HER BADLY, her first solo exhibition bringing together a series of intimate graphite drawings rooted in a personal archive of photographic fragments, instinctively collected and recomposed through collage. Her works depict solitary feminine figures staged within dreamlike interiors or ambiguous spaces, where presence and withdrawal quietly coexist. Informed by psychoanalytic thought, her practice traces a recurring pull toward loss, interiority, and the unnameable, while exploring the cinematic potential of drawing through questions of intimacy and attachment. On view from April 8th, 2026. - CULTURE IN MOTION with @artawork @galerienicolasrobert
