Doté de 10 000€ partagés entre l’artiste et la galerie, ce prix récompense un·e artiste vivant·e sur la scène française et la galerie qui l’expose lors de la foire #ARCOMadrid. • 💬 « Nous avons choisi Sofía Salazar Rosales pour la solidité et la maturité de sa pratique, particulièrement remarquables au regard de la jeunesse de sa carrière. Son travail articule héritage local, mémoire, mythes et traditions, tout en transformant des objets du quotidien en formes poétiques et symboliques. Cette approche, à la fois ancrée et ouverte, nous a particulièrement impressionnée. Sofía Salazar Rosales is part of Atelier des savoirs partagés, a tropical_lab program supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation. Salazar Rosales (°1999, Quito, Ecuador) focuses on the potential that objects have to reveal social, economic, and political contexts, especially related to the displacements of humans and objects. By changing the materials of identifiable objects, she evokes new narratives, often including traces of weariness. Salazar Rosales considers her sculptures and installations as spaces of reconciliation between different contexts triggered by different displacements. She understands reconciliation as a negotiation between the material and its history, the object and its history, and these different aspects within the context. Hace una semana @rialtaediciones publicó la entrevista que la talentosa @dayneris_brito me hizo sobre mi degree show en @beauxartsparis : “Tal vez la urgencia del arribo extienda mi lenguaje” (extracto del Cuaderno del imposible retorno a Pangea de la increíble @yuliana_ortiz_ruano Gracias @rialtaediciones Gracias a mi querida Dayneris por creer en mi trabajo y por esta conversación que refleja con cariño y fuerza lo que busco en mis instalaciones y esculturas. Aquí un extracto del principio: “Impulsada por la urgencia de llegar –a ninguno o a todos los sitios–, de enraizarse y echar semillas, Salazar se obsesiona con las vidas, origen y funciones de los materiales, muchos de ellos procedentes de la construcción vernacular utilizada en zonas de América Latina y el Caribe para, partiendo de esa preocupación por la materialidad, hablarnos poéticamente del desarraigo, el pasado y la reinvención. Esta escultura dibuja la intersección de sangres hechas de movimiento. Abrazo el coincidir de nuestros cuerpos tejidos por desplazamientos.
