Excerpt from a letter written to the blue mesh translated by

“With you plastic mesh becomes a beaded weave, reminding me of my father, his way of wrapping my wrists with Orula bracelets and my neck in a seven powers necklace. It prepared me to circulate, to travel protected. Syncretism.
Blue mesh and white chain.
Crossing the shore we meet Yemayá (goddess of the sea).
As I knit you, I think of my mother and her
painting of a whale with shell scales and black skin. She titled it “Mistress of the Deep”:
.”..your sleeping face seems placid.
But who knows what will happen
When you open your eyes and see With the signs of your origin...”
