We’re very happy and proud to share this installation with you over the coming days at @art_rotterdam . At stand A02, Heejsteck# presents Add to Cart, a site-specific installation by @peervink and @tomputman Their work explores the thin line between seduction and illusion, taking the shopping mall as its point of departure, once a symbol of the future, now often left behind as an empty shell. Within a constructed, cave-like environment, their sculptures and paintings reflect on a shifting reality, where appearance, consumption, and identity continuously overlap. Alongside the installation, we are presenting works by the artists we represent, including @vandb.info @peterhoijmakers @nayul_3nw @petervos1975 @sm___it @elsemarijnbruys We’re also pleased to be part of the Projections section, where @sm___it presents his film A_Whole_New_World.me. PAREIDOLIA Videography, Adobe Creative Suite, Python, Raspberry Pi   “On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives, on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” Carl Sagan   The encounter with something genuinely other, genuinely different, approached without the need to fix or judge it, is one of the things I think is worth protecting. The view from the airplane window is, for most of us, the closest we ever come to the pale blue dot. It is a moment of accidental perspective that is usually spent watching something else.   What you are looking at is, simultaneously, a childhood image of magic, being above the clouds, and a factual document of one of the stranger things our species has built. Both are true at the same time.   The loop is 42 minutes. You are somewhere inside it.   Single-channel video, Raspberry Pi 5, 400×1280 LCD screen. Both the individual artworks and the installation as a whole invite us to participate in an artistic expedition. As a visitor, you find yourself somewhere in between; a blue sky with clouds contrasts with the layered cross-section of rock that covers the walls. The fossilised sand layers remind us of the passing of time; an accumulation of layers of matter and history to which we have to relate. The cloudy sky evokes a more spiritual association, like a dream of infinity in relation to the insignificance of humankind. Through their work, Hoijmakers and @sm___it reflect on the (emotional) relationship they have with the world, with themselves and with other people. This gives rise to intimate reflections of their inner world; carefully constructed layers of lived meaning. SEDISubtle little secrets, hidden in the image, waiting to be found.

APOPHENIA A Time-Based Autonomous Generative Artwork Currently on show @heejsteck as part of the duo-exhibition SEDIMENTAL with @peterhoijmakers   🌴🌴🌴 There is a grid.   This work is about systems, the ones we are born into, the ones we build, the ones that form us before we have any language for what they are doing. Family. Education. Work. The invisible field of forces nudging us in directions we cannot always name.   The traces left on the black field are not decorative. They are the accumulated record of thirty lives navigating a world that keeps rewriting its own rules. The warm ones are easy movement. The hot ones, orange and red, are struggle, an entity heating up against something it cannot get through, changing itself in order to continue.   The work runs without reset. Each trace is unique and irretrievable.
