SKIM & Maiden China: what if you and i could = us 💄 A multi-disciplinary duet collaboratively created and performed by Kendell Yan and Romi Kim, written for their drag personas Maiden China and SKIM. An experimental play that explores the weight of representation as marginalized members of Korean and Chinese diaspora, the complexities and intersections of transness, gender and sexuality, and what it means to be in their bodies in public and private spheres. On a shared program with Kimmortal and co-presented by Pride In Arts Society, this project is an iterative work, previously known as “YOU AND I ≠ US”. The script, format, delivery, and supporting media all change with autobiographical consideration to the artists’ lived experience and the context of the space it is performed in. Jaewoo Kang, SKIM & Rhye McCorkindale: Hearts & Boots 🎀 Hearts & Boots is a queer puppet performance retelling the myth of Korean goddess Mago using Bratz dolls, miniature sets, and irreverent humor. Blending pop culture with ritual, it explores themes of creation, bodily sovereignty, and ancestral memory, transforming mythology through playful subversion and richly detailed, absurd theatricality. Some fun fundamentals about these tantalizing artists: Jaewoo: 1. Jaewoo’s name in Korean mean lots of friends 2. Jaewoo has 17 Bratz. His favourite is Felicia. 3. Jaewoo’s dream is to be a popstar like Madonna. Rhye: 1. Rhye is known to raw-dog intercontinental flights, no screens just mile-high mental flow yo. 2. Is the exact same size and stature as their 12 y/o nephew. 3. Can climb a large tree with chainsaw in hand. SKIM: 1. SKIM started performing drag in Seoul, South Korea! 2. SKIM’s special skills include shucking oysters, Hwatu and finding free things on FB marketplace. 3. SKIM has a Masters of Fine Arts from UBC! 4. SKIM & Maiden China 🏳️‍⚧️grace ahmm 2026 with their co-created duet on a shared program with Kimmortal, that is co-produced by Odd Meridian & Pride in Art Society. Some fun fundamentals about these dear hearts: 1. Maiden China and SKIM are in an ongoing scrabble war. Every game they make a bet and have a clear winner and loser. One time SKIM lost and had to change their IG handle to slugisking. 2. Maiden China and SKIM are interdisciplinary artists working within video, drag performance art, photography and often think about community building and care. 3. Maiden China and SKIM are your favourite Asian trans drag performers. They are siblings from the House of Rice and have been collaborating since 2020! 4. Maiden China and SKIM’s special skills include masonry.
