Today, the day after Juneteenth (Freedom Day) & the night before the 2024 Summer Solstice, I wish to feel inspired by OUR CULTURE - with all its subcultures - and how much has changed & continues evolving.
Thinking about the significance of yesterday in our nation’s journey to freedom, it’s easy to conclude that we’ve come a long way. And sure, we have. We’ve turned away from our most barbaric & depraved human tendencies; yet, it’s also obvious that we haven’t let them go.
We honor the history of OUR NATION by showing up in proud celebration & in silent contemplation. Because to create a culture that’s honest about its history & intentional about facing the lies & wrongs in order to repair our broken human bonds, we must self-reflect and assess for ourselves how we play out or play into the same old ideas & behaviors that cause harm.
We must take ownership for how we engage with the culture; what we take from it @ give to it. It’s a relationship after all.
Just as Black culture is expansive and global & embedded in the national cultures of many countries, queer culture has been going mainstream more recently & is on the same trajectory. While LGBTQIA2S+ folx are happy about it, the change still feels too slow for those of us who are eager to take even bigger strides toward a more perfect UNION & a truly free society - one where our historically marginalized communities experience a culture that is genuinely embracing & affirming.
David & Ken met right before the pandemic and, like many of you, became LOCKDOWN LOVERS!! As some of you know, though the virus was a people repellant, this UNPRECEDENTED historic event with all its devastating consequences also allowed gamers like these two to play house together and notice that the game of life was made better by sweet sweet love!

We put the good in the good life!!
If you’re not where you want to be, conjure up scenarios & the specific sensory experiences you’d be having if you were - revel in the feelings of having what you most want. Identify those feelings & stay in them. Or reach for related ones that match that ‘good life’ frequency RIGHT NOW.
Don’t let your mind pull you into “realism” for too long & don’t get stuck in that state of worry & doubt that comes with thinking about the how it’s all gonna happen. Instead, stick to a mental scene that shows you already having what you desire & soak in those ‘made-up’ happy vibes; hold on to them for as long as you can. Make this a practice.
If we keep going back to that intentional kind of imagining, our dreams WILL eventually materialize.

When you work hard - study lots & make the moves necessary to reach your goals - you often forget to take the time to notice the process or fully appreciate how far you’ve come because you’ve already moved on to the next thing.
Folx who are focused on being & doing the things that will get them to where they’re going are obvi smart AF; they like to take charge because they know where they’re going. But these beautiful sibs of ours often need reminders to pause & enjoy what they’ve manifested along the journey, which is why many partner up with the “let’s slow down & smell the roses” folx.
Of course, even those of us that eagerly take whiffs of the good good in life still exist in this sensory overload era & are getting smacked in the face with the stench of reality & slowing out manifestations down. We forget too - forget that our seemingly unproductive way of perceiving the world - our imaginations - are in actuality, very instructive & key to making our dreams come true. We must all remember to do the work of imagining the world we want, just like N&N do!
Neesha & Nancy have accomplished plenty already!! Young & ambitious, though neither would necessarily claim either, they’re now married & continuing to manifest their good life in Boston - a hub for people with big 🧠 🧠 & even bigger ❤️❤️!
