So back in 2014, I released a jam called ‘Phase Seq One’ on @dickytrisco@hometapingiskillingmusic label via @theblessedmadonna hook up and eventual remix (the kick drum on this remix is ridiculous btw for those who steal wicked kick drums, cheers Marea! ☝🏽)
This release seemed to go over well and ultimately led me meeting @thatmanmonkz over at @ohceeh house (sure @tomboogizm was there too - big ups to both!) 👊🏽
Anyway, I found Scott to be like a big brother who REALLY schooled me on the music business, how to craft and sell records while totally broadening my whole outlook as dj, producer and as a human - my thanks are perpetual 🙏🏽
So #talesfromthegreenroom was created for #shadeleaf in 2016 and remains one of my favourite releases with the lead track ‘Make Your Move (Pressure)’ ft @justingordonmusic amazing vocals now featuring on the best of VA being released Friday 1/12/23 on @bandcamp and major streaming platforms 💚

Industry active since the age of 16, Simba has always been about the vibe, earning his spurs on the local DJ circuit and producing for his local radio station, Rock FM.

Father and son. Des Grant and Simba bring a night of RnB, disco, boogie, hip hop, house and retro club classics.
Des Grant is a Preston DJ with over 40 years of experience, known for his upbeat energy and engaging style. He began his career playing weddings before establishing himself in soul and disco, leading to residencies at well known venues in Preston including Squires and Browns RnB Bar.
Across his career he has played to crowds that included artists such as Alesha Dixon, Jazzie B, Kenny Thomas, Alexander O'Neal and Chris Brown.
He later worked with Butlin’s hosting soul weekenders and 70s and 80s events, and has performed at venues including Ronnie Scott’s. His Summer Breeze event in Corfu won Best Soul Holiday Abroad in 2017.
Simba represents the next generation, blending boogie, jazz funk, disco, house, hip hop, techno and bruk. Starting at age 16, he built his reputation on the local DJ circuit and through work with Rock FM.
His productions and DJ sets have gained support from The Blessed Madonna, Dimitri from Paris and Larry Heard, along with backing from Mr Scruff. His vinyl releases have sold out internationally and his recent work continues to build momentum.
Expect a night focused on quality music and a strong atmosphere from two generations of DJs.

As we all know, music brings people together, friendships are formed, records are talked about and sometimes back 2 back DJ sessions happen. This has
been the story so far for Simba and Jim Bane, who were 1st introduced through local hero @mrs_cruff . They quickly became friends and talk regularly about life, parenting, records & DJing. This session has been a long time in the making. They both have broad taste in music but still very much focus on the dancers. This is reflected in both of their individual DJ styles. You can expect plenty of Jazzy Bubblers, Deep Underground House cuts, Detroit Techno Freakers, Sub-Heavy Rollers, Neck Snapping Hip Hop Beats, Dusty Funk Nuggets, Soothing Soul, Vibey Afrobeat, Heavy Latin and Boogified Disco. All put together with skill and flow. Presented to you on the heavyweight Eastern Bloc Soundsytem. This is for the dancers. Appropriate footwear highly necessary. £5 in. 1st in, last out.
