In the face of growing uncertainty and division, we reflect on the stories that bring us together and celebrate these moments of connection. Through a series of collaborative videos with UNFOLD Asia — each capturing a facet of Singapore’s multicultural tapestry, shaped by different communities, histories, and lived experiences — we are reminded that mutual respect and understanding can build bridges across cultures. In learning about one another, showing up for our neighbours, and staying open to our differences, we find care, cohesion and camaraderie. Learn more about our work at: sif.org.sg #ABetterWorld

Across Southeast Asia, water is not just a resource — it is central to how economies, communities and systems adapt to climate change. When systems break, what matters most becomes clear. For Singaporean Quah Zhengwei, it meant building solutions that brought order during uncertainty. For Indonesian Windy Natriavi, it meant staying close to communities and understanding how access can change livelihoods. Through the ASEAN Youth Fellowship (AYF), organised by SIF and the National Youth Council (@nycsg ), they engaged with peers across the region to explore how technology, policy and leadership play out in different contexts. Their experiences show that building for ASEAN is not about scale alone. It is about designing for real people, in real conditions. 📖 Read more about their journey and perspectives on our blog: Link in bio If your work is shaped by the communities you serve and you want to connect across ASEAN, this may be for you. Applications for the 8th ASEAN Youth Fellowship are now open. Comment or DM "AYF" to get the application link!

Voices of Us brings together creators to explore identity in a complex digital world shaped by misinformation, echo chambers, and online harms. Anchored in diversity, compassion, and cohesion, it creates space for honest conversations and real stories that shape how we understand ourselves in Singapore and across the region. In our pilot edition, with the help of historians, heritage practitioners, creatives, researchers, and community voices, we unpacked the difference between history and heritage, heard from those working closely with communities, and questioned how stories are told and whose voices are heard. One thing was clear: there isn’t a single story of Singapore, and how we choose to tell these stories matters. Thank you to our speakers Dr John Kwok, Amanda Cheong and Stanley Cheah from @hiddenheritage.sg , @benkheng , Dr Mathew Mathews, and Shaza Ishak for shaping the conversations. We are also grateful to our co-facilitators @yahlahbut , Singapore International Volunteers Fauziah Ahmad and Seluasundram, and youth leaders @heruiming and @nava_neetha for grounding the dialogue in lived experiences.

Climate leadership does not always begin in policy rooms. Sometimes, it starts with lived experience. For Lara Jean Salaysay from Philippines, it began with growing up in a country deeply affected by climate change. For Singaporean Rueban Manokara, it came from a drive to take action on one of the defining challenges of our generation. As part of the ASEAN Youth Fellowship (AYF), organised by SIF and the National Youth Council (@nycsg ), they exchanged perspectives with peers across the region, gaining new insights into how climate action looks across different contexts and communities. Their reflections are a reminder that shaping ASEAN’s future requires leaders who can think beyond borders and work across them. 📖 Read more about their journey and perspectives on our blog: Link in bio If you are working on challenges that go beyond your own country and want to connect with leaders across ASEAN, this may be for you. Applications for this year’s ASEAN Youth Fellowship are now open. Comment or DM "AYF" to get the application link!

I thought I knew what leadership looked like until I had to make decisions that didn’t have clear answers…   To become a better leader, I turned to self-help—but that complicated things even further. In the end, what really helped was learning by doing and admitting I don’t have all the answers. By learning and growing alongside leaders across cultures, contexts and perspectives, I could try to figure out what kind of leader I’m going to be.   Leadership is not about having it all figured out. No one is born a leader, but we’re all becoming one as we go.   In collaboration with @nycsg  @siforg  ❤️‍🔥   #leadership #leadershipskills #selfhelp #workplacewellness #youthdevelopment

What does it mean to learn across cultures in healthcare? At the Palliative Care Accessibility Core Training (PACT) Module 3 in India, healthcare professionals and Singapore International Volunteers (SIVs) came together not just to exchange knowledge — but to understand each other’s contexts, challenges, and approaches to care. From clinical practices to psychosocial support, these conversations sparked new ideas that participants are already bringing back to their communities. 👉 Learn more about the project: .sg/Our-Work/Health/Specialist-Programmes
