New project up on our site!
Set in Austin’s historic Judges Hill neighborhood, this 1928 Colonial Revival home—originally designed by Edwin C. Kreisle—was reimagined for a young family relocating from Los Angeles. Stripped to the studs and entirely replanned, the 18-month renovation relocated the kitchen, reconfigured the second floor, and opened the home to the backyard—all while carefully preserving original trim, molding, fireplaces, staircase, and upstairs wood floors to maintain its historic character.
A former attic now serves as a screening room with built-in bed nooks tucked beneath the rafters, a nod to the homeowners’ film careers. Layered with antique furnishings and custom tile selections, the home balances architectural integrity with warmth and livability, honoring its past while embracing modern family life.

Holly Beth and Matt Potter found a house that already felt like a home, rooted in history and community in the Rosewood neighborhood. By partnering with Side Angle Side, they proved that preserving character doesn’t mean sacrificing possibility. 🏠❤️

Some would see a two-bedroom house for a family of four as a problem. Not Annie-Laurie Grabiel and Arthur Furman, the couple behind Austin-based firm @sideangleside.co . For them, this 1939 bungalow’s light-filled footprint and double-courtyard were major selling points. They got their chance to rework the floorplan, though, when a leaky dishwasher prompted a renovation. Seven years—and a 200-square-foot addition—later, they finally have found good flow. See more at the 🔗 in bio.
Our first client (and dear friend) @caseycdunn asked us to come back and add a steel shade trellis onto the side of the house.
