We’re thrilled to share a glimpse of our latest residential commission—a generational estate designed to bring family and friends together for years to come.
Anchored by a main residence on the bluff, the property unfolds around an oval drive that frames the great lawn and pool, creating a natural circuit for walking horses. A guest house, pool house, and horse barn complete the ensemble, shaping a retreat that balances elegance, function, and connection to the land.
This project is about more than architecture—it’s about crafting a legacy.

For 2109 Rockmoor Avenue, the landscape was never an afterthought—it was essential to the vision.
Landscape architect ShadeMaker Studio shares how the design evokes the feel of a true country estate, complete with lush greenery, water features, and spaces to relax or play.
From the fairy garden to the expansive lawn and cutting garden, every element was planned to feel both natural and elevated. Even the screened breezeway and second-floor brick terrace were designed to invite outdoor living, rain or shine.
This is landscape design as storytelling—rooted, layered, and intentional. Stay tuned as we continue to uncover the stories that make Rockmoor truly feel like A True Austin Estate.

Reposting from @wildflowercenter : Gregg’s mistflower, the 2025 Wildflower of the Year! We love it!

@wildflowercenter Introducing our 2025 Wildflower of the Year: Gregg’s mistflower (Conoclinium greggii)!
This fuzzy purple bloomer may not be flowering just yet, but once it does, expect a butterfly frenzy - especially from Queens and Monarchs. Tough, drought-tolerant, and easy to grow, it’s a great choice for Texas gardens looking to support pollinators.
Look for its blooms from March through Novemebr, bringing a steady parade of winged visitors.

Heads up, Austin! A cold front is headed our way this weekend, and linger for a couple of days, bringing temperatures below 30°F. Be sure to winterize your plants and get them ready for the chill. Quick drops in temperature can be tough on them, so it’s important to act fast!
Some plants need extra care during extreme cold weather, including tropical plants, citrus trees, cacti & succulents, tender perennials, tender herbs, and tropical vines.
Tips to Protect Your Plants:
- Cover Them Up: Use frost blankets, old bedsheets, or burlap to cover delicate plants overnight. This traps heat and protects them from frost. Be sure to secure the covers so they don’t blow away.
- Mulch for Warmth: Apply a thick layer of mulch around the base of plants to insulate the soil and roots. This helps retain warmth and prevents abrupt temperature changes.
- Water Before the Freeze: Well-hydrated plants are more resistant to freezing. Water the soil thoroughly before the freeze to help retain warmth and protect the plants from the cold. Avoid spraying the leaves.
- Bring Potted Plants Indoors: Move potted plants indoors or to a sheltered location for added protection.

Before any transformations began on our Old Enfield project, the space was defined by a steep, challenging slope that limited usability. The landscape, though naturally beautiful, was disengaging and inaccessible.
Our client’s vision of “reading with the birds” clarified our design. The treacherous concrete flume/walkway was replaced by a safe stairway, allowing us to engage with over 25' of grade change. Three seating terraces, perfectly perched in the canopy of new and existing trees, embrace tranquility, seasonality and welcome a good read.
Stay tuned as we share more about how we worked with this natural canvas to create garden rooms that celebrate the seasons.
