! First time on @rinse.fm last week ! Had loads of fun running through a Testimony To 2010- an ode to a really special era for U.K music that made lots of people very happy- check some of the YouTube comments on videos uploaded in 2010- you’ll see what I mean! First had the idea for this show back in April, so was a real honour to bring it to life on such a legendary platform & record it there too. In June, I was given the pleasure of contributing to the @soup_manchester x @carharttwip_uk ‘Support Your Local Basement’ campaign with an oral history of SOUP. A space very close to my heart that has spent the past fifteen years serving Manchester’s music scene and uplifting those within it with unwavering passion and humility. Hopefully the essay does this justice, piecing together stories from family old and new and weaving them into a narrative that quietly celebrates what makes soup, soup. Dua Lipa’s management having to brave our not-so-vip, vip back entrance, Dean Blunt turning the basement into a lawless tornado of haze and the toilets causing a Joy O show to get called early are a few personal favourites. The piece is available to read on the website / slide 3 onwards- also have some physical copies, give me a shout if you’d like one posted to you :) riding the celebration train into this weekend for the fifteenth birthday, where, on Saturday we’re doing up an all dayer across the whole venue- workshops, bbq’s, tunes and lots of beer.
