Last weekâs Ghost Pub Tour for @sheffbeerweek was easily one of the most fun events Iâve ever led. 6 awesome establishments, plenty of humour, history, as well as the occasional spook & spectre.
This Wednesday Iâm doing it all again and 2 tickets have become available, the event having previously been a full house, and theyâre now on once again listed in EventBrite:
Itâs one even you really donât want to miss! @hophideout
This Sunday folks!
Weâre signing off @sheffbeerweek 2026 with a quiz night on the Steel City music scene, with drink tokens and @thornbridge cans to be won đ

Please, PLEASE everyone stream/buy/add to your socials post (if you do them!) Heaven 17âs â(We Donât Need This) Fascist Groove Thangâ đŁâĄď¸đś Weâd love to get this song back in the top 10 đśđş by the power of the people đ @heaven17official
Pull up a stool, grab a pint of something Sheffield brewed, and letâs talk about why Sheffieldâs own Heaven 17 didnât just make a tune, they built a blueprint. As we celebrate Sheffield Beer Week, itâs only right we toast to the tracks that have as much kick and character as our local beers. â(We Donât Need This) Fascist Groove Thangâ isnât just a floor-filler; itâs a seminal moment in Steel City history, circa 1981. Still as relevant now, sadly, as it was thenâŚ
Much like a perfectly balanced Sheffield pale ale, this track is a blend of ingredients, made by Sheffield folks, that created something legendary. Glenn Gregoryâs soulful, powerhouse vocals adding to the British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.) sound, infused with a heavy, slap-bass funk from John Wilson (an intriguing story in itself is how he came to play on the track, we suggest you buy @ddywray book when itâs released to find out!). Itâs industrial grit meets dancefloor sweat, the sonic equivalent of a lively night here in the city.
In 1981, they werenât whispering, they were shouting about Reagan, Thatcher, and the rise of the far-right. It was banned by the BBC and it showed that pop music can be a powerful medium for social, political and cultural commentary.
âHave you heard it on the news
About this fascist groove thang?
Evil men with racist views
Spreadinâ all across the land
Donât just sit there on your ass
Unlock that funky chaindance
Brothers, sisters, shoot your best
We donât need this fascist groove thangâ
So, as youâre working your way through the draught taps, handpulls and bottles/cans at your local brewery taproom, pub, bar and/or beer shop this week in Sheffield, remember âĄď¸ weâve always been a city that speaks its mind and keeps the rhythm.
Cheers to the pioneers. đť

Happy (or Hoppy?) Friday! We have collaborated with @beerofsmod for Sheffield Beer Week 2026. For 2026, Sheffield Beer Week @sheffbeerweek will celebrate the cityâs sonic and synth musical heritage under the banner âSheffield Synth Cityâ. Our collaboration is a beautiful Franconia inspired pils called Franken Pils! We did the can illustration too! Itâs alive!!!! #imonster #saintmarsofthedesert #sheffieldbeerweek #sheffieldsynthcity
