Imagine getting asked to have your breasts casted for a nonprofit breast cancer foundation here in Joshua Tree… at an artist studio surrounded by an agave farm. And in that space, getting to talk about why you choose to do areola restoration work with someone whose path is also rooted in both art and helping others. I got to experience that. And I’m forever grateful for the conversation, the vulnerability, and the space created by such beautiful artistic women within this community. Moments like this remind me how deeply connected art, healing, and human connection really are. We just completed the first 7 castings for this year’s @keepabreast High Desert Collection. Every cast tells a story. Every woman said yes to something bigger than herself. It’s an honor to hold space for these moments and to witness, to listen, and to turn these experiences into something that can educate and support our community. These pieces are now heading out to local artists who will transform them in their own way, building on the already beautiful art that each person’s body is. Later this year, they’ll be shown for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This project is about more than art and boobs. It’s about connection, prevention, and making sure our small desert community has access to breast health education that can truly save lives. Thank you to these incredible women for trusting us. I miss you. Like… really miss you. I know it’s been quiet over here, and so many of you have been asking about the next meet up (which makes me so happy). Real life update: my house has been deep in a double bathroom remodel, so @bossbabelunchhour has been on a little hiatus. BUT… a lot has been happening behind the scenes ⚪️ BBLH is now officially an LLC (!!) ⚪️ Our brand identity is currently being designed by @sepia__sepia ⚪️ Website wireframes are in the works My goal is to have the website live this fall and when it launches, you’ll be able to: ⚪️ Create your own profile ⚪️ Showcase who you are + what you do ⚪️Connect, hire, and collaborate locally This isn’t just a meet up. We (you and me) are building a full-on platform to build community and help all of us thrive out here in the High Desert. Today we’re sending big love to our friend Malice ❤️ @officialmalicemcmunn She’s been a longtime supporter of KAB, and now it’s our turn to show up for her. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and today is her surgery. This photo was taken just after @shaneyjo made her breast cast for an exhibition we did years ago with @rockstarenergy and @theseventhletter These casts are part of the iconic imagery of Keep A Breast — one of the ways we use art to communicate about breast cancer and turn stories into impact. Come see us at @vans HQ tomorrow, Thursday 2/26. Twenty years ago, we had an epic show curated and photographed by my dear friend @desiree_astorga . She traveled with me, documented every casting, and photographed each artist with their finished cast. I’ll never forget casting @elissa_steamer at the Hotel Des Arts in SF — the bathroom was so small she had to stand in the bathtub. I also cast @amyguntherellington in the shower at the W Hotel in NYC. Many casts were done at my house in Oceanside, and some of my favorite photos were taken in the alley behind it. That’s what I love most about these casts — every single one carries a story. Thank you, Desiree for the beautiful memories and for curating a @keepabreast show that will live on forever. I hope some of you can make it out tomorrow.

Dear Melanie, Thousands of miles traveled. Hundreds of beers drank. So many boobs casted. More hugs and tears than I can count. Endless boob selfies. And so much time spent side by side in a 10x10 booth. I’ve learned so much from you over the years. But the thing that hits me the most is how you show up for the people you love. No matter what we’re doing, you make it memorable. You make it meaningful. You make sure your people know they’re loved. I’m so lucky to know you. I’m so grateful for all the memories.
