10 NEW #bonewerx Flutters made in the little temporary workspace I set up in my friend's garage. It's been so great having a place to work these past few weeks! I'll be packing up all my bins of tin and putting them back in storage next week. The life of a #mixedmedia artist is cumbersome ~ especially without a home base. I'll be transitioning back to bottle caps for my next big project coming up in January, more on that later . . .

Yesterday, I got a hot tip from a fellow artist on IG alerting me that someone had dumped a massive quantity of old boots out on the sidewalk and hillside in N. Portland. I hightailed it across town with my buddy @heidedavis1 and a handful of large trash bags. It was quite the bounty and was spread out as far as an entire block! It's got to be the same guy I bought the five bucks a pair from a few years ago. Ive pretty much used all the ones I had from that first windfall, and I had been wondering what happened to that guy. I'm not sure what the story is but he must not want to deal with them anymore since he dumped them all out on the side of the road with a giant FREE sign! LUCKY ME! I filled FIVE bags full and could barely cram them all in the car. Thanks for passing on the info and rocking my world @reflectivesociety 😍

Making a MESS is part of the process, right?!
While nothing is coming together yet, I am rediscovering and detangling lots of scrappy bits and pieces I hope to be using soon. I am feeling the pressure to make stuff (my bills are not getting paid) but the joyful experimentation that it takes to create art is completely blunted by the stress of making ends meet right now. I SHOULD be exploding with Fire Horse energy, but I'm all jammed up behind the gate. Quite frankly, my ideas don't feel strong enough or important enough to push into being. I'm trying to go through the motions, gathering, sorting and prepping, hoping a spark will ignite. Picasso said "Inpiration exists, but it has to find you working" - which is totally contrary to how I typically do things! I hope it finds me SOON because it feels dull and pointless to make anything without that flame of passion burning

Don't have the GoPro to prove it, but I'm getting more comfortable on the bike. Got it up to 5th gear a couple times, hit a few bumps and got a little squirrely in the sand! Been having a hard time coping with some stress lately and this is just the ticket! I'm still a big chicken, but practice takes the edge off. Thanks to Billy aka @dumbbiker for making this happen ❤️
