I picked this hooded coat from the Rodarte Fall 2020 1940s vampire-inspired runway, and have been waiting for the right occasion to wear it. I found the opportunity in San Francisco Ballet’s Opening Night Gala 2024, themed “Pandora: Curiosity Unveiled” and centered around the ballet’s premiere of “Mere Mortals,” which draws inspiration from the Greek myth of Pandora. In her remarks, artistic director Tamara Rojo encouraged the audience to go see this groundbreaking piece, and I couldn’t agree more. See Mere Mortals - through February 1, 2024.
Tonight is my favorite event – the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala, where the ballet costumes are created by fashion designers. Last year featured three designers: Raf Simons, Alejandro Gómez Palomo of Palomo Spain, and couture designer Giles Deacon. Here I am with Gilbert Bolden III, NYC Ballet dancer, while he is wearing his own design inspired by Miu Miu and Christian Siriano, and I am wearing Raf Simons for Calvin Klein 205w38nyc, as Raf is one of my favorites designers while he was at Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, and now Prada. My friend Roman Gronkowski, wearing Palomo Spain, is here with Alejandro, and my host Leslie Littlejohn is pictured with Giles Deacon.
This year’s event will feature costumes by Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera so needless to say I’m extra looking forward to it.
The best San Francisco Opera Ball yet. I’m so grateful for our city. Despite challenges being faced by cities everywhere, the good about San Francisco is still here - the world class opera, symphony and ballet; the de Young, Legion of Honor, SFMOMA and Asian Art museums; and its natural beauty. As we work on the challenges, we need to support and protect the good now more than ever. As always, thank you to @drewaltizerphotography and @missbigelow for the photos.
Our Taj Mahal experience was made possible by the best guide that happened to also be the best photographer, Nitin Singh @nitin_taj , who showed us both sunset and sunrise. So beautiful and so fun!
David Nash and Town & Country Magazine cover the Opening Night Gala of The San Francisco Fall Show. The show, which benefits the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, is celebrating 40 years with this Ruby Jubilee, and has been rebranded from The SF Fall Antiques Show to reflect its evolution to a broad range of art and design. It is open until 5pm today and if you haven’t been I would highly recommend getting to Fort Mason to take advantage of this feast for the soul. In addition to more than 50 exhibitors from around the world, there are four spectacular vignettes, created by renowned designers and featuring custom deGournay fabrics and wallcoverings. Tonight is the NYC Ballet Fall Fashion Gala. I went last year for the first time because Christopher John Rogers had designed the costumes for one of the pieces. It was such a great event that I will try to come every year. Last year it was only by luck that my headpiece happened to match his costumes! Wearing CJR with CJR and his fab team. More to come from this year’s gala later tonight, will miss Riccardo and Jorge! @christopherjohnrogers@nycballet
I had been sworn to secrecy about our spectacular @degournay wallpaper until this week’s release of “Currently Classic” by @jonathanrachmandesign & @deanrhysmorgan and published by @flammarioninternational .
And how exciting to see its debut on Amazon at #1 !
As described by de Gournay: “Jonathan Rachman’s debut book features his never-before-seen Russian Hill project, complete with a shocking pink ombre ‘Salon Vert’. Inspired by old Hollywood glamour with a fresh, modern spin, this fully custom colourway also adorns the cover. We look forward to celebrating the book’s release in the week ahead.”
You can pre-order from Amazon or order a signed copy on Jonathan’s website: /
Jonathan will also be signing personalized copies at The San Francisco Fall Show’s Book Signing Jubilee from 5-7pm on Thursday, October 13th
