Within our Shanghai showroom, floating mythological symbols unfold across a paravent installed with our hand-embroidered ‘Fu Lu Shou’ design, in a contemporary ode to the storied artworks of the country.
The design’s ethereal composition is filled with depth and dimension, through use of both moiré and silk appliqué - which adorns a blend of wool, linen and silk.
Cotton, silk, and wool threads are implemented within techniques ranging from twisted cords to blanket, quilted, and split chain stitching, bringing each historical motif to life with stylistic nuance.

Within the kitchen of our Shanghai showroom, our hand-painted ‘Uki Hana’ wallcovering unfolds in botanical splendour upon a pair of enchanting grounds.
Chrysanthemum blooms alongside poppies and wispy grasses upon an Olive sub silk, as if delicately suspended in mid-air - wrapping the walls and a procession of cabinetry in the delicate tableau.
Across the space, the design gleams over the countertops on a Gilded Silver ground, set within a refined composition of materials that marries classic and contemporary aesthetics. Brushed stainless steel and unbleached oak are grounded by graphic marble flooring, while overhead, a ceiling of bronze-painted silk lends warmth and softness, tempering the crisp materiality of the space.

The duo’s curiosity for atmospheres to be discovered through design energises their Signature Bedroom at Nilufar, where ‘Waltz’ is unveiled—enveloping the space in a flow of hand-embroidered lines that trace, curl, and dance in kinetic harmony.
Alongside the designers’ exceptional pieces created for Nilufar Editions—including their first bed, pair of armchairs, and gleaming red tables—archival works by masters such as Osvaldo Borsani, Gio Ponti, and Gae Aulenti curated with Nina Yashar punctuate the setting with a perspective true to both David/Nicolas and Nilufar alike: a place where future and past converge to create an interior quite unlike any other.
