AI and technology are already reshaping the way we live and work.
Let’s make sure we’re all in the driver’s seat having a say - not just big tech.
That’s why it’s so important we keep the conversation going between businesses, unions, working people and governments about what this future looks like.
Thanks again to the @chifleyresearchcentre for organising today’s discussion
Equitable Remuneration is a practical, globally tested way to ensure that when creative work is broadcast, communicated, streamed, or used to power AI, the people who made that work get paid – automatically, fairly, and beyond the reach of loophole ridden contracts.

Great catching up with @twusant organisers & delegates up in Darwin.
Tristan and Lucas are passionate, hardworking members standing up for people across aviation and transport, making sure they have a strong voice at work.
Unfortunately, Julie Bishop turned the Australian National University into her own circus.
This is a chance for ANU to rebuild trust, restore accountability and put the public good back at the heart of higher education.
A big shout out to the @nteu_au for always standing up for staff, students and academics at the University.
Let's be clear: this came after years and years of fighting and pressure from unions and working people.
It wasn’t that long ago that McDonald’s argued that workers could be paid less if they got things like chips or nuggets on their break.
And up until now, they’ve done everything they could to avoid negotiating fair pay and conditions.
Hopefully this is the moment they finally lift their game.
A big shout out to the @sdaunion for their great work leading the charge on this
One of the highlights of visiting the North Coast last week was getting to meet and talk to PALM workers at Swadlings Timber in Pampoolah and Hurfords in Kyogle.
The PALM (Pacific Australia Labour Mobility) scheme creates opportunities for workers from Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste to work, gain skills, support their families back home, and help fill labour shortages here in Australia.
Since coming into office, the Albanese Labor Government has invested $440 million to expand and improve the scheme, with stronger protections and support for workers while they’re in Australia.
Businesses like Swadlings Timber and Hurfords are examples of PALM employers doing the right thing - paying their workers on time, treating them with respect, supporting union membership, and making sure they’re part of the local community.
Thanks to @tftualison & the Timber Furnishing and Textiles Union for helping organise this.
Standing up for your voice at work is always worth it.
Don’t let One Nation, Liberals and Nationals, and the bad bosses they side with, tell you otherwise.
Happy May Day.
Billionaire tech giants don’t want to pay their fair share? Surprise, surprise.
We’re backing Australian news journalists and publishers by making sure they’re fairly compensated for their work.
