ICYMI: We have increased our claim in the Annual Wage Review and are now calling for a 6% increase to award and minimum rates of pay.

The Annual Wage Review decision is coming up, and our submission makes it clear that workers need a real above-inflation pay rise. Anything less is going backwards.

Unions have updated their call to a 6% wage increase in this year's Annual Wage Review. This updated position reflects the lived experience of our members and the growing pressure of the cost of living. Wages must keep up, and we’ll continue pushing for pay rises that keep workers ahead of inflation.

Intergenerational fairness is a great focus for this year’s Federal Budget. SDA's housing survey highlighted the challenges young workers face trying to get ahead. We also successfully campaigned to abolish junior rates for young adults and are campaigning for super for under 18s.

In our housing survey, SDA members told us housing costs are pushing them backwards. Too many are spending a huge share of their pay just keeping a roof over their head, and many are cutting back on essentials to cope. 63% said increasing wages is one of the most effective ways to improve housing affordability. That is why the SDA is backing a 5% pay rise in this year’s Annual Wage Review.

We continue our campaign to get super on every dollar - especially for workers under 18. It's unfair and outdated for workers under 18 to have to work 30 hours or more per week to get super. The Senate Inquiry Report was released today.

Did you hear the news? Junior rates are finally being abolished for 18-20 year old workers in retail, fast food and pharmacy.

Our Adult Age = Adult Wage win was heard around the country. And for good reason! It is such a historical win for young adults in Australia who have been paid less just because of their age.

Massive win for young workers! Now to make sure retail and other minimum wage and award workers get a decent payrise this year. Proud to stand with the @sdaunion @sda_union_queensland 💪

We think you deserve an above inflation rate pay increase this year. Let's see what big business lobby groups think you deserve...
