One of the things I respect about working with Real California dairy is the commitment to sustainability happening behind the scenes. It’s actually super simple to submit: just share the name of your pizza, why it’s great, the ingredients, and a couple of solid photos. That’s it.
One thing to keep in mind — use of Real California cheese is part of the judging criteria, so make it cheesy. 🧀 California is the largest producer of mozzarella, and when you lean into that, it shows on the plate.

The end of a Burger era.
What a gift it has been for our family to have our boys work for one of the very best around, Chef Leah Scurto, proprietor of PizzaLeah.
It all began in 2020, during stay-at-home, when Sav started working there at just 15 1/2. Then, after heading off to university, Adrian stepped in. While he may not have been officially on the books at first, once he graduated from Sac State in 2023, he proudly became part of the PizzaLeah team.
And now, Adrian is officially “retired” from his role as Prep Cook/Dishwasher as he heads to the CHP Academy later this month.
Leah, you have been more than an employer. You are a friend to our whole family, a mentor to our children, and such a deeply nourishing and inspiring presence in the Windsor community in every sense of those two words.
Tony, the kids, and I thank you with full hearts and very full stomachs.
Lucky for us, we live close by, so this is far from goodbye. We’ll still be seeing you often... and getting our pizza fix, of course.

Had the honor of judging the Worlds Best Cheese Slice at the International Pizza Challenge yesterday at Pizza Expo.
All five of the finalist’s pizzas were absolutely incredible. Pizzas I would happily eat any day of the week. Although one person was declared the winner all of these pizzas deserve recognition. Congrats @boabakery for taking the 2026 title.
Tagged a couple pies here but the judging is anonymous so I really only know which pizza was the winner’s and who made the square slice. Cheers to @professorpizza for 2nd place by just a hair and to Gerry @frankspizzaandpasta rounding out 3rd!

Yesterday, Chef Laura teamed up with @scurtographer and @doubledough7 at the @exploratorium to teach multiple classes all about Pi—with a hands-on twist! Guests of all ages learned the science behind making the perfect dough before jumping into a fun, interactive dough tossing session. From curious kids to enthusiastic adults, everyone had a blast exploring the math (and magic) behind pizza. The day wrapped up with a lively Q&A and an impressive dough tossing demonstration from a true pro! 🙌🏼🍕📸

To celebrate Women’s Pizza Month, Corto @corto_olive and Stanislaus @stanislaustomatoes are once again supporting the next generation of women pizza pioneers with the Pizza Scholarship. Five applicants will be awarded a scholarship to attend a multi-day intensive Master Pizza Seminar of their choice at Pizza University in Baltimore, MD.
