Virginie Bobin, commissaire d'exposition, traductrice et enseignante, a écrit un livre que je viens de recevoir et qu'il me tarde de lire. Il y est question de traduction, d'écoute, de parcours de migration et d'accueil, d'interprètes, de disparition, de neutralité, de liens, de politiques impossibles. Virginie a côtoyé des interprètes pour écrire ce lire. Elle a également eu la générosité d'inviter des artistes, des penseur·ses, une famille à intervenir sous la forme d'une carte blanche dont je fais partie. „I Speak Radio“ 🎤 Talk and listening session with Anna Bromley, Diana McCarty, Michael Fesca and Achim Lengerer and additional voicings by Kaltrina Krasniqi, Vullnet Krasniqi, Miljana Dunðerin, Qerkica Rexhepi Place: Archive Souq, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin Date: 5.4.2025 Time: 17.30 hours The event will evolve around Anna Bromley’s publication I Speak Radio with radio texts on the use of radio as a collaborative practice. The book is published as part of the Series Scriptings: Political Scenarios in collaboration with Archive Books (print) and Eecletic (E-Book). Amongst other places, Anna Bromley got her start as one of the reboot.fm artists at the HKW, where she invited artists, activists and cultural researchers into the radio studio to explore language and voice in the context of sound, politics and everyday life. What began as an artists’ radio research format has developed over the years into a series of exhibition pieces focusing on radio and its visible and invisible transmission bodies. Publishing a selection of her radiophonic essays for the first time, I Speak Radio reflects Bromley’s collaborative radio practice. The publication also provides insight into the corresponding exhibition formats of these projects, including cooperations with a large number of artists, activists, radio makers and theorists. An index of images and texts on Bromley’s other artistic works is inserted into the book. During the event Anna will be in conversation with artist and media activist Diana McCarty as well as with artists and editors of the publication, Achim Lengerer and Michael Fesca. +++ CHANGE OF DATE +++ Sunday, 29 September, 6-8pm Film screening of "Domestic Optimism, Act One, Modernism – A Lesbian Love Story“ (Lyónn Wolf, 2020) followed by a conversation between artist Kerstin Honeit and Lyónn Wolf "Domestic Optimism, Act One, Modernism – A Lesbian Love Story“ (2020) is the first part of Wolf’s exploration into a radical reimagining of our shared social spaces. Informed by their 80s childhood in Ireland and set on the intersection of queer identity, working-class history, and modernist architecture, Wolf looks at social housing, the history of architecture and design, and, also, Ireland's scant modernist heritage from a queer working-class perspective. Lyónn Wolf is a trans, working class, visual artist, educator & writer making work intentionally shaped by economic necessity. They engage forms of recycling, thrift & ephemera, resulting in soft modularity, wild archiving & performative intervention, posing questions about value, accumulation & authorship. They see a cultural centring of thrift as part of a tradition of queer-working class vernacular & ethics, promiscuous & adept at working within limitations. Kerstin Honeit works as an artist with experimental documentary moving image formats. She lives in Berlin, where she studied Fine Arts and Stage Design at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule. In her video works, she researches cultural and linguistic modes of translation. Her focus is on the politics of the (film) voice and in particular on how the voice as a queer event, between the moving images, can shake up prevailing regimes of the gaze. In 2022, the monograph 'Kerstin Honeit. Voice Works / Voice Strikes' was published by b_books-Verlag. WHERE? Ballymun is a suburb of Dublin and home to the largest social regeneration programme in Europe. The 4th Act examines the legacy of this 18-year regeneration project, via the dramatically and digitally reconstructed memories of the working-class community itself. Drawing on hundreds of hours of local and personal archive collated by Ballymun groups over the past four decades, the film explores themes of loss, community, hope and defiance as the residents of Ballymun watch their familiar landscape and way of living disappear. 🌴💫 Followed by a conversation with Roberta Burghardt (coopdisco), Lyónn Wolf, moderated by GOSSIP GOSSIP GOSSIP ✨🌈 Roberta Burghardt works as an architect and is co-founder of the Berlin design cooperative coopdisco.
