@sayesystem was raised on an eclectic mix of Afrobeat and reggae pulled from his parents’ record collection, shaping a DJ and producer deeply rooted in global rhythms and underground dance culture.
Inspired by his family’s love of music, SAY3 began drumming at 12, before immersing himself in late-night groove parties and a wide spectrum of underground club sounds — House, Afrobeat, Afrobeats, UK and American Club influenced sounds and beyond. Those early nights submerged in the local club culture in Atlanta, led him to dive-in headfirst to DJing basements, house parties, and abandoned warehouses, where he sharpened his sound and instincts.
With a background in design, SAY3’s attention to detail is hyper-focused, translating into productions that are precise, textured, and forward-thinking. Drawing from his Haitian and Liberian heritage, SAY3 crafts electrifying, polyrhythmic tracks that bridge African and Caribbean diasporic sounds — pulsing, percussive, and built squarely for the dance floor.
A regular fixture in Atlanta’s club scene before relocating to Brooklyn, SAY3 launched his Somethin’ Guetto party, throwing the debut event at Art Basel in Miami, and regular nights across Brooklyn, which has featured a diverse range of talent including
@djmarfox and
@djnigga.fox .
Drawing heavy influence from Lisbon’s Batida scene — rooted in Kuduro, Kizomba, and Tarraxo — SAY3 has been actively bridging the sonic worlds of Lisbon and Brooklyn, while also digging deep into the rich South African House scene — from Gqom to Amapiano.
