Join us at 1:00PM on Saturday May 16th for an info session and rally to prepare for the upcoming PUBLIC APPEAL HEARING of the Lloyd Center Master Plan. We will go over some frequently asked questions about the mall, the plan, and our goals, and how to sign up to testify! This meeting will be held on the second floor of the Lloyd Center on the west wing at Braided River Gallery (previously the LOFT store). Tell your friends! The Save Lloyd Campaign is intent on sticking out the fight to save Lloyd Center from demolition. We are continuing our outreach to the City and Metro, alerting potential investors (the owners wish to sell as soon as possible), educating our leaders on what is at stake, including the environmental impact of demolition, the cross-cultural exchange that the mall effortlessly facilitates, and the ideal of having a place for all of Portland to visit, meet, wander, #shoplocal, and dine, rain or shine. Oh, and ice skate, mall walk, attend concerts, and #upcycle, and so so much more! If you resonate with these ideas, please 1) sign the petition (link in bio), and 2) come to our rally + info session at Braided River Gallery at 1pm on March 16th, 3) keep coming to the mall to hang out, even as businesses are having to seek new locations it’s still a sprawling indoor space with great lighting, an active ice rink, and there are still stores and things to do and see! Thank you to @marissa_perezzzzz for the gorgeous poster design and to @portlandzinemeetup and @outletpdx for the printing services! #savelloyd #savelloydcentermall

We are still collecting sigs, meeting with city officials, talking to ownership, spreading our message, clarifying our position, running numbers, thinking creatively, and enjoying ourselves and learning in the process. The past couple weeks have been tough following the Design Commission’s decision to uphold the Master Plan that calls for the demolition of Lloyd Center. Ownership has expressed their intention to close the mall sometime in 2026. This would surely break the spell of authentic revitalization we’ve seen at the mall in recent years. We continue to be resolute in our message that the mall’s owners and Portland at large have a rare opportunity to invest in a potent creative epicenter that can serve as an attractor and anchor for the revitalization effort. It would serve Portlanders much better than a huge empty lot in the years ahead, with PDX ranking second to last (80th out of 81) in US cities for overall development and investment prospects. Keep in mind, the master plan is merely a framework for partitioning the land and paving some new roads, it will fall on the current owners to find buyers and developers to build on the individual parcels. No commitments have yet been made to actually build anything. This is important information for the public to know. We’re working on detailing our alternative plan concept, will share soon. Thank you for your support! #savelloyd #savelloydcentermall Thanks @t4t_c4c for the info graphic 📐🫡

The City of Portland is proposing that $75 million in Portland Clean Energy Funds go toward renovating the Moda Center with little clarity around how this will serve the fund’s goals of uplifting “community-led vision that builds resilience” and “addressing social and economic inequity by providing major new economic opportunities for low-income Portlanders.” WHAT IF Portland Clean Energy Funds were used for clean energy upgrades for Lloyd Center - a one-of-a-kind, publicly accessible, year-round community space and commercial hub, that promotes public health ✅, supports small businesses ✅, and serves as a climate refuge for our city ✅? A coordinated effort led by @oregonmetro , supported by PCEF, and involving other city bureaus could #SaveLloyd Center from out-of-state owners who show little regard for the cultural or historical fabric of our city. How much material waste and carbon will be spent on tearing down and disposing of Lloyd Center - a perfectly useful - nay, majestic! - infrastructure that is being stymied and overlooked? In the words of PCEF: “Our community can take proactive steps to fight climate change while addressing social and economic inequity” #savelloyd #savelloydcentermall

Lloyd Center’s recent success can be  measured in built community, small business incubation, and public health through accessible physical and social activities — all of this is being significantly undermined by the mall’s impending closure. Small business owners responded to ad campaigns that said “Reimagining Community” - SO WE DID - and the results are beautiful!  But rather than invest in this positive direction, their was no actual commitment to reviving the mall or growing the ecosystem of small business at Lloyd Center, which showcases the breadth of diversity and creativity in our city.  Instead, we learned that liquidating the mall was the owner’s plan all along. But redevelopment plans fall through, land doesn’t get purchased, projects stall, and the community is left with… empty lots… sometimes for many years. If KKR and URG get their way we will be stripped of a historic community fixture for the benefit of private corporations, not our city or community members.  The city codes by which the Master Plan was assessed cite these specific criteria to be prioritized:  Community Building (Policy 2.LD-3); Employment Core (Policy 1.LD-1);  Sustainability Innovation Center (Policy 1.LD-2);  Tourism, Retail, and Entertainment (Policy 1.LD-3);  Emphasize Portland Themes (Guideline A2).   We’ve seen few places in Portland exhibiting these themes in a more pronounced and impactful way than Lloyd Center in recent years. Where is the accountability for 10,000+ Portlanders saying “keep the mall!” “keep the rink!” Sign the petition. Testify on June 24th at City Hall 🏙️ #savelloyd #savelloydcentermall

The first in a series of conversations with Lloyd Center tenants and patrons: an interview with Noah Lecompte (@lecomptenoah ) and Noah’s mom (Jennifer) to learn more about Noah’s new book titled: “I HAVE A LLOYD CENTER MALL FUTURE DREAM WITH RIHANNA THE CELEBRITY AND A$AP ROCKY THE CELEBRITY” We caught up with Noah and Jennifer to learn more about their deep love for Lloyd Center and what stands to be lost when we put speculative real estate above community. Wanna help make Noah’s future dreams a reality? Share this video and sign the petitions to support @save_lloyd and @savelloydice . Also, it wouldn’t hurt if you knew @badglalriri @asaprocky or @mackenziescott2020 🙃 #savelloyd #savelloydcentermall #savelloydicecoalition

Me doing a live reading about my future dreams at the @lloyd.center.mall May 2, 2026. this book is going to be about my future dreams at the Lloyd Center mall. And why 100 % disapproved the Lloyd Center Mall set to close on August 8 of 2026 but hopefully those events will change. I did explain that this is an historic landmark and it’s an iconic mall and very important to the people in our community. Because it’s the first mall in the world that has an ice rink and more importantly it’s become an inclusive community center for everyone @save_lloyd @foodcourt5000 @savelloydice @badgalriri @asaprocky #rihanna #autumn @katutv @bnlloydcenter @joebrownscarmelcorn @giftsfromafar @koin6 @kgwnews @fox12oregon @willametteweek @portlandgovmayor @govtinakotek @rocnation @entertainmenttonight @enews @essence @extratv @accesshollywood #rocnation #savelloyd #lloydcentericerink @burgerstoopid @auntieannespretzels @hotdogonastick

Went to the electrifying (PechaKucha) PK Slam @clinton_street_theater which was part of the Oregon Active Transportation Summit hosted by the @thestreettrust in partnership with the Transportation Research and Education Center (TREC) at Portland State University. The slam was co-hosted by @strongtownspdx 💪🏼 Every presentation was varied in delivery, tempo, and subject matter but kept the same energy that left people talking long after the event ended. This is a clipped down recap of Krista Catwood the creator of @foodcourt5000 that found its place at the Lloyd Center Mall @save_lloyd talk “This is Not About Mall Walking”, the important role third spaces play in providing opportunities for connection and community. A PechaKucha presentation is a fast-paced, highly visual, and concise format consisting of 20 slides shown for 20 seconds each, which automatically advance to total 6 minutes and 40 seconds. #portland #pdx #portlandoregon #portlandor #portlandia
