In honor of Outlet’s 9th birthday we’re thinking about all the ways that risograph has influenced us and our creative practices! Join us in writing a love letter to RISO - an ode to the neon, quirky, imperfect, sometimes frustrating printmaking process that has captured our hearts! This show will be a collection of 2-3 color prints from a handful of artists who have been printing at (and even working at!) Outlet over the years. Prints will be on display at our lovely neighbor space @sonnyshouseof during our birthday month (April) as a way to celebrate 9 years of operating our little print shop and loving riso every step of the way! ‼️⭐️🤩 This show opens on 4/3 and is on view until 5/31.

We’re here again to remind you that we always have FREE protest posters in our shop for pick up and just printed up some new ones (and you can submit artwork via our website). No one is illegal. No one should be separated from their families. SMASH ICE! Chinga la migra! Come get some posters on your way to the protests and the ICE center, we’ll be handing them out for free 10am-6pm tomorrow (6/13), and 1pm-5pm on Saturday (6/14). See you on the streets! Portland! There is a 24/7 protest outside of the ICE facility on SW Macadam! Let’s show up and support our community!

The world feels weird and scary these days (and have we mentioned we hate that it feels like we need to use this platform for our business?). We’re always looking for ways to support our community and wanted to figure out a way to give back every month this year. We’re selecting 12 different organizations or mutual aid groups and will donate 10% of our print sales that month to each org. You can learn about the places we picked on our website—please check out some of these incredible resources in our community and support them! And come print with us to help us raise lots of $$! January’s pick was @mutualaidla , a connector and info hub for mutual aid efforts, people, and resources in LA organizing urgent support and aid around the Eaton and Palisades Fires. As of now we’ve raised $175 and we’re still printing away today and tomorrow! I am happy to be called back there, where I first started baking and thinking it was a good idea to feed people. I'm so grateful that a Plum Baker friend spoke my name to Bridget, and that we got to connect on art, and that you get to have this in your space now, too (go click a link 🩷). Join us at 1:00PM on Saturday May 16th for an info session and rally to prepare for the upcoming PUBLIC APPEAL HEARING of the Lloyd Center Master Plan. We will go over some frequently asked questions about the mall, the plan, and our goals, and how to sign up to testify! This meeting will be held on the second floor of the Lloyd Center on the west wing at Braided River Gallery (previously the LOFT store). Tell your friends! The Save Lloyd Campaign is intent on sticking out the fight to save Lloyd Center from demolition. We are continuing our outreach to the City and Metro, alerting potential investors (the owners wish to sell as soon as possible), educating our leaders on what is at stake, including the environmental impact of demolition, the cross-cultural exchange that the mall effortlessly facilitates, and the ideal of having a place for all of Portland to visit, meet, wander, #shoplocal, and dine, rain or shine. Oh, and ice skate, mall walk, attend concerts, and #upcycle, and so so much more! If you resonate with these ideas, please 1) sign the petition (link in bio), and 2) come to our rally + info session at Braided River Gallery at 1pm on March 16th, 3) keep coming to the mall to hang out, even as businesses are having to seek new locations it’s still a sprawling indoor space with great lighting, an active ice rink, and there are still stores and things to do and see! Addie and I drove down to you this weekend at @printedmatter_artbookfairs with 1 new magazine, 5 new publications, 1 new card game, 1 new shirt design (and a slew of prints) from years of work, but actually, really only a month and a half of production… we’re going to have so much fun (and have been). We are so excited for the next show from @fiskgallery opening tomorrow night featuring @kentarookawara @yaymarshamack and @niamusiba ! Nia is a beloved Outlet print assistant and also the artist behind the mural that is on the outside of Outlet! I snapped a photo last Saturday of Kentaro and Nia as they prepped for their show! Working across painting, drawing, and ceramics, each artist approaches “softness” as both a visual language and a way of making—fluid, tactile, and open to transformation. This weekend spend the weekend, or part of it, at the the fourth annual Seattle Art Book Fair May 9-10 at the Washington Hall! @washingtonhall206 Seattle Art Book Fair is a FREE public event that celebrates independent publishing, book design, and artist books. The nonprofit festival features a wide range of books and publications by artists/ designers, collectives, small presses, booksellers, and distributors, hailing from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. SABF also presents talks, workshops, and installations exploring contemporary topics in independent publishing. Another Riso!!! 3 colors 11” x 17” poster Will be available at markets and my online shop soon! This one is very special to me 💛 I haven’t given it a name yet but this illustration was inspired by the arduous journey my grandparents lead with their four children, including my mother, across the boarder of Laos and Thailand to gain refugee status and eventually move to the states. I’m grateful for the life I was granted and wanted to share my appreciation for all the other families who have made similar journeys especially in today’s political atmosphere I hope this one resonates with you, even if you’ve had different experiences 🫶
