I started this piece two years ago almost to the day in my very first studio as a part of an homage series to my younger self and childhood house, both spaces whose rooms I could only seem to wander while asleep at night. And then I put it down and neatly folded the loose cotton because I didnât feel ready to finish it, not really knowing what ready meant or would look like, but the door had heavy hinges (and it wasnât gross, just dirty). Last week I woke up and I knew it was time to paint the rest of the dishes on the table â let further and closer memories simmer and salud with the ongoing. A reminder that disassembling and building follow similar structures involving a little bit of patience and a lot of due time â oh boy. Now Iâm maybe more ready and definitely excited to explore the other rooms in the house ⌠I think maybe soon? But who knows for sure :,)
âShabbos lunch in the dining room, the House on Silver Hillâ

joy, not without an arched back⌠a laminated feeling heavier now, but paired with the important reminder to celebrate hard work! So many things Iâm excited to make and I feel so lucky for that â today you can find many of my available pieces and prints, project and secrets on my new website zabshavrick.com
Launching a portfolio has felt daunting for a while â fearful of calling ourselves what we are, especially when Iâve always felt like a blend of many things (and most of it rooted in loving a long lunch). In an attempt to celebrate a touch of distinction, my graphic design practice is now lives as @green_door_studio , cheers!
Thank you to @comeaprilfilm for always having the most fun with me through shooting new phases and stages of work and life !
Today is in fact the final and free day of the LA @printedmatter_artbookfairs and I do in fact love LA and we did in fact drive straight here, tiles packed, paper nearly leaked on from our âcooler bagâ, taillights hanging on by threads and now duct tape, dearest friends showing up left and right. Come say hey, weâre at F2 (like F1, but F2) !!
Want to read something silly? Weâre launching GUBBINS magazine: a satirical publication with an essay on synchronicity from New York to Miami by @sc0rpionqueen , a story about two brothers who are suspiciously passionate about the baseball card industry by @templeofdendur , a @sophitza original paradelle about the unexpected charm of Alexâs beets from the market, a darling pull out poster by @_an_onion_ and illustrations by myself scattered throughout. Thereâs so much more, but come see for yourself.
Stay tuned for online drops coming soon⌠or maybe fly to LA for the day? Itâs really awesome here (we even taught June how to read, we realized she just needed glasses)
LA! Addie and I drove down to you this weekend for @printedmatter_artbookfairs with 1 new magazine, 5 new publications, 1 new card game, 1 new shirt design (and a slew of prints) from years of work but actually, really, only a month and a half of production⌠weâre going to have so much fun (and have been).
Enjoy a sneak peak, shot by @comeaprilfilm and styled and directed by @dakoda.hughes and myself. Thank you to @cort_lil_b for the last slide short film !! And of course, forever thank you to @outletpdx for letting me marathon riso print each and every piece in their perfect space !
Iâll be launching everything online and in person in the next few weeks⌠stay tuned, there is so much more to come <3 Couldnât have done it without the help of the friends who have donated their time these past couple weeks - so special to call this work :-)
I was given the gift of new colors from @laurasanherr_art :,) Now Iâm learning a side of the places Iâm visiting that I wasnât expecting⌠so very lucky to be discovering the joy of a medium that sticks to my fingers in a way I havenât known ⌠thereâs always more !!
