Today you received in the mail a college diploma with honors. Those of you with freshly diagnosed children on the autism spectrum. Please, be proud and always assume competence. The first known recipe for apple pie dates back to 1381 in England. This medieval dessert, recorded in a cookbook titled The Forme of Cury, was quite different from the modern version. The recipe called for ingredients like apples, figs, pears, raisins, and a pastry shell, but notably lacked sugar, which was a luxury at the time. Instead, the sweetness came from the fruit and spices like saffron for flavor and color.
Over centuries, apple pie evolved, gaining the sweet, buttery crust and spiced filling we know today. However, this 1381 recipe marks the beginning of a beloved dessert that has stood the test of time, becoming iconic in both British and American cuisine. curious chronicles Chronicles.
