Meet Mila. Yoga teacher. Artist. Chaos embracer. She doesn’t need a studio. She doesn’t need silence. She doesn’t need your permission. Dressed in extravagant outfits, she performs complex physical practices in spaces where they don’t belong — creating spontaneous, unsanctioned performances in public places. This is Fashion Yoga Art Performance — a project exploring the tension between freedom and inner control within the chaos of the city. The (F)ISH IDENTITY series focuses on the inner and outer metamorphoses an individual undergoes in emigration. Together with the artist, we look at ourselves as a “new creature,” trying to recognize traces of our former selves. It is a process of accepting not only what we like but also our own shadow — perhaps even coming to admire it. It is a movement through the fear of rejection; a lesson in how not to mimic, but to adapt to a new habitat. The disappearance of the former self here is not synonymous with death.
