Having spent a significant part of his childhood outside his homeland, he developed an interest in displacement and in states of incompletion — in things that are still in transition and have not yet taken on a new form. From 2022 to 2024, he lived in Kyrgyzstan, where he created House 41 — a photographic project about the people living in the same house as him: migrants who had separated from a former identity but had not yet formed a new one. Atmosphere from the vernissage of (F)ISH IDENTITY, Tais Grig’s @taisia.grig solo exhibition RUBEZH @rubeeeeeeezh ⚡️ You can visit the exhibition by sending us a DM at least 1 hour before your visit. 📍 TBILISI: The Public Atelier for Artists [by RUBEZH] // Aghmashenebeli 95a On view: 28.03 — 13.04 Available days: — Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 15:00—18:00, 21:30—22:30 — Saturday, 11.04, 17:30: curatorial tour by Alsu Garapova @alsu_its_me /// The (F)ISH IDENTITY series explores the inner and outer metamorphoses a person undergoes in emigration. Together with Tais Grig, we will look at ourselves as a new creature and try to recognise in it traces of our former selves. We will accept not only what we like, but also our own shadow — and perhaps even come to admire it. We will move through the fear of rejection and learn not to mimic, but to adapt to a new habitat. The disappearance of the former self here is not the same as death. (F)ISH identity is fluid and transitional: not yet fixed, not yet settled, open to unexpected possibilities. See you! ❤️

Alison Klymchuk @alisonklymchuk 2. Sergey Nemudrov @sergunmt 3. Louise Amelie @louise.amelie We’re launching online artist talks to connect the art community. Three émigré artists will share their stories, practice, and plans in an informal setting. Register to receive the call link and ask questions. This week’s speakers: 🥷 Alison Klymchuk @alisonklymchuk Alison Klymchuk is a Ukrainian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin (DE), born in Toronto (CA) to immigrant parents from Kyiv. Working with sculptural assemblage, photography, and semiotics, she sources materials from skip bins and construction sites to reconstruct fragments of residential buildings erased through urban development. Her practice traces the link between construction and destruction, as well as gentrification and warfare, mapping the loss of homes between her own personal memory and global homogenization. 🥷 Sergey Nemudrov @sergunmt Born/raised in Fryazino; based in Barcelona for three years. Sergey rejects labels like «emigrant art,» focusing on a visual language that communicates ideas beyond verbal constraints. His practice engages with the street context, reimagining found objects through a lens of romance and self-irony to bridge the gap between artist and viewer. 🥷 Louise Amelie @louise.amelie Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, Louise Amelie is a photographer and director now working between Germany and Central Asia. Her work focuses on migration, identity, and intercultural exchange. Through long term projects such as AK JOL, she collaborates with artists and communities from underrepresented regions. #artisttalk

(F)ISH IDENTITY Contemporary art solo exhibition by Tais Grig @taisia.grig On view: 28.03 — 13.04 📍 The Public Atelier for Artists by RUBEZH @rubeeeeeeezh Aghmashenebeli 95a Tais Grig explores ways of perceiving reality and contrasts of experience through conceptual painting, graphic art, and mixed-media works. The (F)ISH IDENTITY series focuses on the inner and outer metamorphoses an individual undergoes in emigration. Together with the artist, we look at ourselves as a “new creature,” trying to recognize traces of our former selves. It is a process of accepting not only what we like but also our own shadow — perhaps even coming to admire it. It is a movement through the fear of rejection; a lesson in how not to mimic, but to adapt to a new habitat. The disappearance of the former self here is not synonymous with death. (F)ISH identity is fluid and transitional: not yet fixed, not yet settled, and open to unexpected possibilities.
