Two crowd favorites! For those who are new here, we started Sapling Books in 2020 during a perfect combination of @earthandthefullness introducing us to one of Jamaica’s most talented visual artists @djsinista1 and the need to serve children during a crucial time in the pandemic. As a result, both Sapling books and our first children’s book @iantakesflight was born. 🌟 And now we have released our second, beautiful title #HereComesTheMorning by @protoje and @bookboysofficial with @mandelmic on illustrations. ☀️ Both of our books explore the imagination and adventure in children (that we need to have too!). They make perfect gifts. 😊🎁 Thank you for your support on our publishing journey!

🌍 After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, a few beautiful children’s books helped young ones find hope. One of our favorites was Hope for Haiti, where children made a football from rags and found joy in hardship. There was also Eight Days: A Story of Haiti by @edwidgedanticat . And while written before the earthquake, Selavi is a powerful story of loss and resilience. Today, children in western Jamaica’s 🇯🇲 hardest-hit communities need that same hope, creativity, and sense of safety. Children process through art and story, and right now they need both. We’re already anticipating the creativity that will emerge from Jamaica’s children during this time. Some may even write their own stories about this experience — and we want to help provide some of the tools to do that. 🎨📚 We’re collecting art supplies and children’s books for families and youth who’ve been hardest hit by the hurricane. Every crayon, brush, and blank page helps. And while this wasn’t part of the original plan when we wrote this caption a few days ago… HAITI MADE HISTORY and is headed back to the WORLD CUP! 🇭🇹✨ Congratulations Ayiti! 🥳 If you’d like to support, please reach out. 💛🌱

We continue to give thanks for compassion, kindness, and resilient spirits — especially for the rapid responders who organized quickly to support families in western Jamaica suffering great loss from Hurricane Melissa. 📖 Here Comes the Morning — A Collector’s Edition Children’s Book ❤️💛💚 We’re thrilled to collaborate with @saplingbooks and @BookmanExpress to bring this beautiful children's book  to readers across the UK and Europe. 🌞 Follow little Yazzy on a magical journey across her Caribbean island, guided by her father to a special place where she can see where the sun comes from. Inspired by @Protoje song “Here Comes the Morning” (from his Grammy-nominated album Third Time’s the Charm), this story was adapted by talented young brothers—@bookboysofficial , aged 12 and 9—and brought to life with illustrations by Johnathan nelson . This hardcover collector’s edition includes Protoje’s handwritten lyrics and a special artwork created by his daughter. A perfect gift for children aged 3 to 7, and a treasure for families who love music, culture, and storytelling. 📚 Link to purchase in bio #childrensbook #childrensbookillustration #kidsreading #kidslit #diversechildrensbooks #childrenlovebooks #storytelling #instabook #childrenlit #bedtimestory #readingtime #reading #herecomethemorning #thegriotspaintbrush #sharingiscaring💕 #rastafari

📚✨ We just read The Blackheart Man by @the_griots_paintbrush and we loved it! This beautifully illustrated story follows a young boy on a journey to uncover the truth about the mysterious figure he’s been warned to fear. Along the way, he learns not to accept what others say at face value - especially when it comes to the figure some once called the “Blackheart Man” - a term used to demonize RasTafari especially in colonial times. Beautiful artwork, meaningful message and much needed work to educate our young and old(er) minds about critical thinking and cultural overstanding. 🌿 Happy to have received this children’s book for our collection.🙌🏾 💚💛❤️ #childrensbooks #rastafari

Read Across Jamaica Day! 🇯🇲 The children were so sweet! One child asked I was a doctor because I was dressed in all white 😁 Another said she loved my voice 🥰 They asked great questions, and in each class everyone shared a different part of the book that was their favourite. They were so attentive. Jamaican children are wonderful fi true 😌 It was so fun and special sharing time with two classes at this great institution led by a kind and diligent powerhouse of a principal 🙏🏾😊 Give thanks to the teachers for the warm welcome and upfull photography 🙏🏾😄 Thank you so much for the work you do! Many thanks to @kozykornerbooksja for the invitation to read and the work they do each year aligning schools with authors and editors for the day! Big up @saplingbooks @bookmanexpress for producing this gorgeous and always fascinating children’s book @iantakesflight by @djsinista1 🙏🏾🤗 #Jamaica #readacrossjamaica #read #knowledge #imagination #education #freedom

We can’t let women’s month finish without showing love to one of the key women on our team @thatsricag ❤️. Among many other things, Rica G leads our education work by creating supplemental materials from our books and creates experiences for youths to engage with books @saplingbooks @iantakesflight and Here Comes the Morning 🪁🎈 Rica is grounded, lyrics and word sound on point always, hands in the earth, and definitely the scholar lol (a term used by a sistren the other day to describe her and it really fits her!). She is multi-talented for days and always willing to support the works. Her love for community and people is evident in how much she gives. We love and give thanks for you sis! ❤️ Jah guidance and abundant blessings to you always. 🌺🍃🌱 #womensmonth
