We continue to give thanks for compassion, kindness, and resilient spirits — especially for the rapid responders who organized quickly to support families in western Jamaica suffering great loss from Hurricane Melissa. There are many parts of this recovery and regeneration work, and the support will not look the same. Each of us holds something needed - every contribution, every skill, every act carries power, no matter how small you might think it is. A few months ago I, Sasha Bookman 😊, made a special trip to Clarkstown, NY for an even more special reason — to deliver books for @iamkamilamcdonald TEDx talk! 🇯🇲✨ She was 1 of 2 Jamaican authors selected for the cohort 🙌🏾, and our entire team worked nonstop to make sure her special taste tester books were ready in time. So much goes into just a few short minutes on this legendary stage 🔴✨🙏🏾 After hundreds of iterations, coaching sessions, rehearsals and well over 6 months of preparation, I finally delivered my #TedX talk: Sacred Plates—Reclaiming Wellness through Ancestral Wisdom & Plant-Forward Eating🙏🏾🌱🇯🇲 Long before I was selected for this stage, I joined forces with @bookmanexpress to birth a book that has been on my heart for some time now— the 3rd edition of Kamila’s Kitchen, this time with a focus on gut health, community healing, and the powerful ingredients right in our own backyards 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 Can you imagine the feeling — holding this book in my hands for the very first time, in the dressing room, just moments before stepping on that stage? 🥹 I cried living eye wata— more than once that day. Not just tears of joy, but of deep relief. Leading up to this moment…there was so much in my way. And the truth is — I almost didn’t even make it.
