I received the Arts and Media Award from the Houston Transgender Unity Committee!! 🏳️⚧️ Surprised and honored, Koomah was kind enough to bring my award to the opening of "Here All Along" ❀ ❀ ❀
Since 1992, this org has been unifying the Transgender population in Houston, fundraising and awarding scholarships for our people. It's a gift to be seen, appreciated, and acknowledged by my community, and I hope to continue this work for years to come ‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚.
This year, there were two awardees! I share the title with Keagan Wheat (@kwheat09 ), an amazing Houston poet.

She’s joining the Lawndale Lending Library @lawndaleartcenter :)
Shot first in Mitla, Oaxaca, and again in Houston, Texas, this double exposure on 35mm film depicts movement across territories, blending into something familiar yet new. This work is part of my “Resplandor” series, where I explored a (mythical) character of sorts who remains unnamed.
Dedicating copies of “Bi” to their new owners did me good- thank you for the support!
If you couldn’t get yours this time, worry not! A release party is in the works :)
Thank you @hcponline for being my weekend dealer 🐦⬛✨and THANK YOU @unclebobsphotozinemkt for setting the stage for us to dance
Surprise :) I present to you my first Photo-chap-book “Bi (breath/aliento)”
she has photos,
poems,
illustrations,
an afterword,
& is bilingual (english/spanish)
50 pages reflecting a personal commitment to rematriation and the spirit of cultural sharing
Find “Bi” this weekend at Uncle Bob’s Photo Zine market on Houston Center of Photography’s table @hcponline
I’ll be at their booth Sunday 3-4pm, come say hi. Self-producing this small book required my whole spirit, and i’m grateful to the friends who helped me along the way.
This first run of 50 have typos in some parts (not the poems, phew). I’m grateful to these imperfections, and decided it will be only these 50 like this.
From stained glass to performance, I engage my practice in different ways across seasons. Painting, however, always feels like returning to a friend
