Some of us remember when this happened.
Some of us see we are living through another moment that feels just as urgent. On the eve of the March on Washington, W. E. B. Du Bois passed away — but his words, his vision, and his warnings still speak to us today. This Tuesday, May 19, let’s come together for watch parties, conversations, and reflection about who Du Bois was, what he fought for, and what his legacy means for what comes next. The film brings Du Bois’s words to life through performances by @common , Jeffrey Wright, and Courtney B. Vance, with narration by Viola Davis. W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel With a Cause premieres Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings). #WEBDuBois #RebelWithACause #PBSAmericanMasters #BlackHistory MarchOnWashington @pbsamericanmasters @prof.chadwilliams @jfreewright @courtneybvance @violadavis @sandraeversmanly @andrew_t_carr @christinewhack

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Today we remember, give honor, and gratitude for the profound life and legacy of, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Gratitude for his enduring faith, life long fight for civil rights, equality, justice and freedom for us all. Today we remember his life and the ultimate sacrafice he and countless others paid, for the freedoms we have today. We cannot forget! Today and every day lets us give honor to his great life of purpose and work, fighting against injustice. Let’s remember Dr. King’s leadership, walk, and for standing up, especially in times like the ones we are experiencing this very moment. Let’s remember his life of action and messages of love, like the quote you will find below . . . “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others.”                                                                                                      - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Give honor always to our history, our ancestors, their struggles and sacrifice. There have been both victories and defeats for our people. All were necessary in bringing change. Whether won or lost, the world knows we are willing to fight for our rights. And even in this present day there is work still, to do. Go out and do the work, be kind and most of all be of action. Peace and Blessings! Yours In The Struggle, Sandra

Dear BHERC Family, The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center will hold its 31st Annual S.E. Manly African American Short Film Festival, this December 13th & 14th, at the Regal Theater, LA Live in downtown Los Angeles. I would like to invite you to join us over these two days, to support emerging black filmmakers. This year is especially important for us as we kickoff several new initiatives, including “Films of the Movement” to highlight the importance of Black History through film; as others try to erase our history, ban our books and more, we cannot be silent. We look forward to you meeting our filmmakers, hearing their voices and seeing their films. Please join us in our mission to promote and celebrate emerging black filmmakers and their stories. —————— As we enter this season of giving, it has been an extremely busy and emotional year for us. As we continue our work through our “Operation Love Initiative”, supporting 160 seniors and their families who lost their homes in the Altadena fire. Next week, we will host a “Day of Love” for many of them on Thanksgiving Day. Please continue to lift our seniors up and all impacted by various disasters, as well as, BHERC and others continuing to find ways to help seniors, families, communities and our youth, during these very difficult and challenging times. With the holidays coming up we must be there to assist even more! We are honored to extend our love to those in need and will be there for our seniors and everyone else in our communities in need. Thank you for your attention and dedication. We look forward to seeing you this December 13th & 14th! Peace and Blessings, Sandra • • #SEManlyAfricanAmericanShortFilmFestival #shortfilmfestival #shortfilm #festival #blackfilmmakers
