Jacquelyn E. Stone (Jackie), made history, and then ensured others could follow her.
As the first African American female partner of a major law firm in Virginia history, Jackie, a Harvard Law School graduate, broke barriers in spaces where Black women had long been excluded from leadership and influence. Throughout her distinguished legal career at McGuireWoods, she became known not only for her expertise but also for her commitment to mentorship, advocacy, diversity, and opening doors for others.
Her impact has created a ripple effect far beyond the courtroom. In 2026, the first award received by the first woman Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia was the “Jacquelyn E. Stone Advocacy Award,” established in recognition of Jackie’s enduring leadership and influence. Her legacy proves that representation matters, especially in rooms where decisions shape opportunity.
Trailblazers are the foundational leadership level for the Museum of Black Women Innovators, women whose stories, impact, and leadership help shape what this institution preserves, honors, and carries forward.
