Ciao Milano! Join me tonight at Tommaso Calabro Gallery for “Innamorato/Furioso” - a solo show by #AlessandroMiotti that I curated, opening from 5pm to 8pm at Corso Italia 47, 20122, Milan. The exhibition explores the transformations of desire around erotic and warlike tensions within contemporary patriarchal society. Additionally, I’m happy to inform you that tomorrow I’m opening a show by #GustavoNazareno titled “Inner Cosmos” at Retori Salotto in Milan. The exhibition will be open to the public from April 16th to April 19th in Via della Spiga 48, 20121, Milan. The Brazilian artist was the subject of inspiration for Retori’s Chapter 4 fashion collection and his practice merges the sacred imagery of Afro-Brazilian religions with the compositional elegance of classical and modern portraiture. On a personal note, I left Milan 10 years ago with close to nothing to my name and too many dreams to reach. To be back in town with not 1, but 2 exhibitions during the most important month for art in the city feels unreal and it feels good. ♥️ Alessandro Miotti is an Italian artist whose painterly practice explores the emotional and psychological dynamics of human relationships. It translates memories and latent emotions into a visual narrative that expresses the complexity of human impulses and the dynamics that shape their desires and conflicts. Gustavo Nazareno is a contemporary Brazilian artist whose practice bridges visual art, spirituality and fashion. His work draws on fables he writes, inspired by the pantheon of Orixás — deities venerated across parts of Africa and Latin America, merging the sacred imagery of Afro-Brazilian religions with the compositional elegance of classical and modern portraiture. Views from @retori_official ’s flagship store and HQ now open in Milan. The art curation is by yours truly and it includes works by Diedrick Brackens (@deedsweaves ), Miko Veldkamp (@mikoveldkamp ) and Manuela Navas (@navas_manuela ). Upon visiting, you can also see the exhibition I curated titled “Chupim” by Manuela Navas. Conceived as part of the namesake children book by Itamar Vieira Junior (@itamarvieirajr ), Chupim stages the Brazilian rural community as seen through the eyes of a child named Julim. The story follows the boy on his first day of work in the fields, where he is tasked with driving away the chupims — birds considered harmful to crops. From the bond he forms with the small bird, the narrative expands to engage broader themes such as the relationship between humans and nature, rural poverty and a sense of justice for those deemed alien or other. The show is open until March 1st at Via della Spiga 48 in Milan! Can’t wait to show you more <3 Architect: @locatellipartners Photography Creative Direction: @piergiorgiosorgetti @studioblanco.it Curation: @samuelevisentin Artists: @navas_manuela @deedsweaves @mikoveldkamp

The exhibition “Chupim” by #ManuelaNavas I curated for @retori_official is now open at their HQ and flagship store in Via della Spiga 48 in Milan (there’s a #TadaoAndo curved wall waiting for you, as well). Manuela Navas is a self-taught Brazilian artist whose artistic practice transfigures fantasy and reality to chart new maps for understanding her own identity, the experiences of the African diaspora in Brazil and the possible trajectories for the future. Chupim, conceived as part of the namesake children book by Itamar Vieira Junior, stages the Brazilian rural community as seen through the eyes of a child named Julim. The story communicates through bold colours and evocative gestures, emphasising the characters’ bonds of affection and belonging rather than the precariousness imposed by their circumstances. The scenes develop across wheat fields and under clear skies, where Black subjectivities work, rest and play, reflecting a daily life that is at once contented and marked by labor. The show is open until March 1st in Via della Spiga 48, Milan. @retori_official Architect: @massimilianolocatelli Curator: @samuelevisentin Photos: @piergiorgiosorgetti

Jiashun Zhou is an American artist born in 1999 in Hangzhou, China and currently lives in Chicago, USA. Using textile art, he reimagines memory as a sensory experience, capturing the feelings physical spaces evoke — how smell, distance and touch influence recollection. In his practice, Zhou explores how space contributes to personal identity and collective memory, using weaving as internal landscape that appears in the form of the cities visited, the places he lived in and the details he observed in nature. The work is an intimate conversation with physical space and the affections that it holds, evoking the emotional traces it leaves behind. #JiashunZhou, Hallway, (2024-ongoing) floor-loom weavings, dimensions variable; #JiashunZhou, Chicago, 2023, jacquard weaving with cotton yard, 104 x 280 cm; #JiashunZhou, Philadelphia, 2023, jacquard weaving with cotton yard, 104 x 280 cm; #JiashunZhou, Window, 2023, woven with cotton thread and Jelly yarns, 198 x 122 cm; #JiashunZhou, Window (2), 2023, woven with cotton thread and Jelly yarns, 198 x 122 cm; Instal shots of ‘Private Garden’ curated on behalf of @a2zadvisory . Open until December 30th at House 119 on Road 913 in Muharraq, Bahrain by appointment. Jiashun Zhou obtained a BFA in Fiber and Textile at the University of the Arts Philadelphia in 2023 and obtained an MFA in Fibre and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in May 2025.

Install shots of the show curated on behalf of @a2zadvisory in Muharraq, Bahrain. Titled ‘Private Garden’, the exhibition explores the relationship between inner freedom and the conditions that allow it to flourish. Historically, the garden has been both a divine enclosure and a site of human growth, in which nature and order coexist and proceed in the same dimension. Here, it represents a metaphorical terrain for self-expression and a symbolic architecture of protection. Through painting and textile, #AlessandroMiotti, #DaniellaPortillo and #JiashunZhou tend to their own version of inner garden — a space for reflection, withdrawal, resistance and renewal. Alessandro Miotti (b. 1991, Sandrigo, Italy) currently lives and works in Venice. He graduated in 2023 from the Venice Academy of Fine Arts in Visual Arts Level II under the tutelage of professors Carlo Di Raco and Martino Scavezzon. He’s currently artist-in-residence at @palazzomonti and will have a solo exhibition with @tommasocalabrogallery in April 2026 in Milan. Daniella Portillo (b. 1997, El Salvador. Lives and works in New Jersey, USA) received he BFA at The Cooper Union in New York in 2020. Solo exhibitions include James Fuentes Gallery in New York (2022), Visentin Fine Art LTD, London (2023) and Opera Gallery, London (2025). She was artist in residence at @longmeadowartresidency in 2024. Jiashun Zhou is an American artist born in 1998 in Chicago, USA. He obtained a BFA in Fiber and Textile at the University of the Arts Philadelphia in 2023 and he is currently pursuing an MFA in Fibre and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2025. He will have a show with Visentin Fine Art LTD in London during the fall of 2026.
