100 Candleholders draws inspiration from JB’s 1981 exhibition 100 Plates Plus, where he playfully expanded a prolific form. Here, each artist brings a distinct approach to material, process, and the interplay between aesthetics and function. 100 Candleholders is on view at Blunk Space through March 28. — "My candle holder is more of a vessel, it offers shelter for the candles and casts images of native flowers in surrounding areas." The fact that even a mold has a life expectancy and a death was something I wanted to capture." I am proud to share this particular example which sits boldly in the Great Room of Bernard Maybeck’s early 20th century estate as currently featured in @theworldofinteriors … A monumental, museum-grade selenite geode presented on a sculptural plinth of old-growth, sequoia redwood ✨🧚 Myla’s work is always deeply rooted in the mythopoetic… such a fitting layer throughout our @communedesign interior. I am honoured that my ‘Altar’ Tray found its permanent home on the monumental, parchment coffee table in the Great Room of Bernard Maybeck’s early 20th century estate currently featured in @theworldofinteriors … The ‘Altar’ series is a body of work where I explore technical, machined surfaces as the canvas for organic, human, painterly expression. The form of the tray was precision milled from a solid plate of ¼” thick brass and finished by hand using traditional horsehair brushes, hot patina and beeswax. Available to commission from @shopcommune … I am excited to further develop the painted gestures in creating each piece unique.
