Designer and former gymnast, Sami Miro, created the team jackets for the 2024 Women’s USA Gymnastics Olympic Trials. Inspired by her experiences and Nike, the Goddess of Victory, the jackets feature signature @samimirovintage open seam lines and leather details. This historic collaboration marks Nike and @USAGym ’s first collaboration with a designer for bespoke jackets, gearing up this team for the world stage with style.
Zero Waste has always been a through-line in my design process – finding beauty in scraps, what the vast majority would disregard as waste. My method of conscious reworking involves utilizing all parts of each garment to create an entirely new design. During our debut NYFW runway show S/S2024, and for the first time in history without practice, I wanted to showcase my style of design-by-reverse-engineering for a live audience as I transformed a pair of our couture trousers into and extended version of our signature Hi Low Skirt with a very long train. With this, I Illustrated in real time how one garment can be reimagined and given new purpose.
